J Day got the staggers, 5 over for his last 8 holes to miss the cut by one.

Scheffler and Rory missed the cut.

Cam Smith is driving the ball beautifully of late.

Yep he is, but although I have only been able to catch a few segments of the early rounds, have actually seen no coverage of Cam on Kayo at least.
Has he been virtually banned already? Why do I sense that all of US golf are (to use their popular term) rootin for him to lose.
Worst result possible for all of the US PGA and media partners, especially with faves Scotty and Rory not even making the cut. I suspect some fans will really attempt to disrupt his game - already copped some heckling in Rd.3.

The TV coverage will have a big focus on loyalists like Thomas if he gets it going, you can bet.

It's a crazy decision for Cam to join LIV anyway IMHO.

I’m not sure about LIV either but the PGA Tour has had big problems itself for a long time now and, under a trrrible Tour Commissioner, brought a lot of this upon itself.

As for C. Smith, it might be a very smart move.

1) He gets $140 million for joining LIV while still having 5 year exemption rights to every single major championship. (He won’t give a rats about the regular Tour events.)

2) In the next few years you can back it in the LIV and Tour will come to some sort of resolution and create a worldwide tour anyway.

$140m win for C.Smith.

Yeh, you reckon the early adopters are likely the big winners.

Wonder if there will be clauses in place to reduce their payments in the event there is some sort of world tour created or these are really sign on payments? Can imagine the payments have certain conditions that need to be met.

There's already talk MD that the PGA Tour are prepared to hold "talks" now with LIV in order to work something out.

That'd be a long way from that idiot Jay Monahan's original position that all LIV golfers were banned blah blah blah.....

LIV are one more C.Smith type player away from a massive domino effect on the PGA Tour. There's a feeling now that if someone like Scheffler, Rahm, Zalatoris etc made the move, a bunch of others would resign themselves to doing the same. And if that happened, that'd render the PGA Tour a non-entity.

I would be all in on the LIV tour, if they weren't using Saudi money, their human rights history disgusts me.

I tend to agree. As well Toigs, their whole format is *smile*. 54 holes....shotgun start....the dumb team and leaderboard thing. Its a bit gimmicky. But for the players, the money is astronomical and its easy for punters like us sitting in the living-room bleachers to cast aspersions.

Well, firstly I stupidly stayed up to post 4am to watch a little of Cam. Now paying for it!
But terrible news about the 2-shot penalty. Would be easy to foray into conspiracy theories in line with my prior post about US PGA certainly hating the chance of Smith winning. Interesting decision to go back and study the vision of this forensically, then get him incriminate himself through immediately saying he thought it was on the line. Touche! Ripped-off -2.

So do they go through every player's round such? Why his then if not? My major point on that would be - WTF! Just another idiotic rule to make some doofus, bureaucratic, athletiaclly-challenged official exercise control and authority over guys who can seriouly play the game, and make a good living from it, unlike them. What is the point whether it rolled on the line or not? What difference does it make? How many times is he supposed to stand there, dropping it, getting it to defy gravity?

Anyway, was going to post that thought Zala would finally break his duck, but too stuffed and went to bed. Can't believe Cam still didn't improve his score, but hard to believe it all didn't get inside his head.

But my Q, Red, are you really keen to watch that?

If they keep getting the best players then you and I will be forced to. And as I said, the players don’t care. They’ll play with pogo sticks on the moon, over 41 holes for Ita Buttrose if someone pays them too.

Good grief....what an unbelievable playoff at the St.Jude.

Just caught up with this. Insane.

Straka will have nightmares about his tee shot to the par 3. Just hit the green, 2 putt and grab the trophy son.

How Zalatoris ball stayed dry will never be known. Wish he had a crack at that chip, love to know what would have happened.

Incredible finish.

Shocking blow up after being so gutsy over the final round and first 2 play off holes.

Bloody hell, all he needed to do was get it on a par 3 green that was only wedge distance. Missed by a mile.

Good to see a bunch of morons yelling out at the top of both Zalatoris and Straka’s swings and yet all those softo American commentators can come up with is “wow the crowd is really excited !” Azinger is a wanker.

The crowds at Southwind were an embarrassment all week, matched by the insipid commentary team.

Straka tee shot was poor, but so was his approach from the drop zone. Couldn't even get that on the green either.

Thought it was great having all the kids who have done it tough through illness greeting the players after they finished their rounds. That was a nice touch.

Yeah St Jude is a great community event undone though by bogan losers in the crowd however. I call it the “Phoenix Effect”.

Yeh, I usually love watching and listening to good commentary but it was awful. A lot of yanks really are insufferable.
