5 down, 80 runs behind….

WTF. Three n a half days of batting marathon for about 900 runs so then the Aussies decide to collapse on a road. Lazy bastards obviously worked too hard n want the game to finish in four days so they can have an extra RDO.

It never ceases to amaze me that Aussie cricket is happy to adopt a "horses for courses" policy to pick a second spinner on the subcontinent, yet they continue to pick a leaden-footed walking wicket like Head. Maxwell is a thousand times better player of spin.

Add Warner to that.

Here's a stat for ya:

His last Test away hundred not including Bangladesh was 8 years ago - Oct 24th, 2014 vs Pakistan (in Dubai).

Including Bangladesh it was 2017.

How can that be justified.

Saving Warner is that the cupboard is pretty bare for openers.

Batsmen are so protected, though. They have no issue leaving out one of the best bowlers in the world for a fledgling leggie, but we can't leave out a proven failure against spin for a bloke who made 100 on a bunsen burner against India three Tests before he rooted Justin Langer's wife or whatever crime he committed.

Belter of a test match Pakistan V Sri Lanka
Pakistan chased 340 odd to win, their second highest chase ever, and highest chase at Galle.

South Africa won the toss and bowled in the 1st test at Los. England 2/25.

Rabada has got both the wickets, looking forward to him bowling to Root.

There bowling is good esp Ntini , Rabada and Jansen · .SAs weakness is there batting .. but Keegan Petersen is pretty good , Elgar is an ok batman but fights hard ... Get to see a lot of the Proteas on TV during summer here.

Yes, good talents are Petersen and Jansen.

I like how Jansen pitches the ball up, another Bruce Reid, has just got Root LBW.

Root LBW again.

Full and straight and he struggles. Have never understood how teams have not worked this out. He is not a front foot player. Would love to know how many runs he has scored in front of the wocket as a % of his overall runs in comparison to his contempories. Would be very low.

Setup for a fascintaing series, the SA's have a pretty hot bowling lineup, wonder how attacking the poms will be?

They'll be very attacking, that's how Stokes goes about it.

Meek effort by England's batsmen. Back to normal for Bairstow, once again exposed by good pace bowling.

Crawley has youth on his side but he only reaches 50 once every seven innings in 26 Tests, only twice going on to a ton. Lees has only reached 50 twice in 16 Test innings with a top score of 67. Hard to make good scores consistently against quality attacks when your openers fail so often.

I did say this South African team was coming, though. Good bowling attack and dogged batting.
