2022 Draft Thread

If we do, we’ve overpaid dollars and draft capital.
Two top 20 picks generally wins the contest, 7 year deals often become salary cap dumps. I can understand paying overs for a FA but that's because you don't weaken your draft position.

I think we'll lose our first two picks for Taranto.
Gee Whizz gotta dump salary so there's gotta be something come back for the breathing space. Their pick 21 returned would be overs so perhaps if they get a mid second round return for losing Hopper as a RFA that'd be reasonable. 12 n 19 for Tarantino n around 28 or so?????

Would not mind trading next years 1st round and our 2nd round pick(31) for Taranto if GWS accepted.
Go into this years draft with pick 12 and 19. Get a Tall forward and a Mid.
Remembering GWS are doing a salary dump &are still getting fair deal for a player who did not finish in their best&fairest top ten.

I'm ok in overpaying free agents cause your draft collateral isn't impacted. But in trading, it feels wrong to overpay both.

GWS are in horrible salary cap trouble, they need to get rid of players, to a point we've overplayed our hand in offering so much.

Not much wriggle room left. If we give up 2 top 20 picks I'd be filthy.

We aren'tthe club either to muck around, we as aren't daddoro. We offer up a deal initially that is fair and stick with it generally.

I bet the deal takes a while to go through. There's so much happening at GWS that they won't move quickly. We could haggle.

I can tell you with full confidence that Dusty has committed to fulfilling his last remaining 2 years with Richmond.
Is going on a decent holiday and is determined to come back in peak condition next year
Mate, I would wait for TBR to confirm before you get too excited

Ted Clohesy ranks as one of the best contested players in the pool, he's in that elite bracket for clearances & ball winning ability. I think there's value here, particularly given he's had an interrupted preparation with a knee injury.

Has always been a real ferocious kid on a footy field.

Bit of a poor mans jed hagan if your comparing white-line fever affected small mids

I dont get the jye clarke hype really

Clark has met every challenge, I like him from a purely bankable perspective. Even his audition against senior bodies passed the test quite comfortably. I think he's a good shot to make the grade, he can kick on both sides, he has strong leadership traits & he's a two way runner. Tsatas is the one I'm not too big on, certainly not from a top 5 perspective, I think he's more of a late teens pick to be honest.

Ok, I'm getting way ahead of myself. What's our strategy if we snare Hopper & Taranto, would have to be a key forward and back wouldn't it?

I liked the Keeler suggestion but we can rule that one out, I think you have to keep pick 12 to get that over the line. Might be a case of grabbing a ruck/forward like Will Verall or perhaps Kaelen Bradkte with whatever is left after GWS raid the kitty.

Ideal scenario for me. Better than getting Hopper. Must invest in some talented KP forward stocks - now if not yesterday.

There's a 4 year apprenticeship required for this position so you are 100% correct, cannot delay any further.

Ive watched this years crop far closer than usual,

And my main conclusion is this;

The difference between picks after 7 or 8,

And picks in the rookie and psd,

Are mostly marketting, opportunity, luck, timing and *smile*.

And its become much easier to understand how the tigers built a dynasty.

I think pick 12 is still in the sweet spot but then again, if you don't rate Clark then I can sort of see where you're coming from, Cameron McKenzie looks the goods to me, then there's the key position prospects in Cadman, Jefferson & Keeler. History tells you there will be a bust but let's not forget Jack fell into this range, Curnow was another who slipped. I feel pretty strongly about keeping pick 12, there's enough talent on the board to make it a viable selection. Pick 19 is worth offloading, that would be my currency & perhaps some future picks.

If we are getting Hopper and Taranto forget holding on to 12. Maybe we keep 30.

12,19 next years first and second.

What do you think of my man Keeler?
