Wrong, there are no points for tapping it to a neutral position, there is in fact a point penalty for tapping it to the opposition & only hit outs to advantage add to a player's points tally.Where the ruckmen get hundreds of points for just tapping the ball, and who cares where it goes and who gets it
Some have called us winning it. One of the biggest upgrades we have seen to a team that was already close if these two guys are fit.I'm confused?

Agree with your analysis on Geelong. They have brought in depth and age may remove some of Geelong’s talent too - although we have similar risk albeit a smaller group with Riewoldt / Cotchin. So far they are behind as Edwards was barely best 22 and lambert wasn’t playing anyway. Selwood was crucial early in the GF.
Their big win is pick 7 and potential future upside but nothing concrete.

I like Brisbane's players they brought in Dunkley and Gunston but I don't believe they fixed their needs - Defence.
Their midfield and forwards are pretty loaded to a very good point.
2019 – 2,004 points – ranked 1 offence, but 7th best defence
2020 – With shorter games still finished third in offence - 1184, but 7th best defence
2021 – 2,131 points – ranked 1st offence, but 5th best defence
2022 - 2,147 points – 2nd to the Tigers 1st best offence
but the 10th best defenceI just think they need to fix that defence more than a Gunston in particular. My mate up there close to their board members says Marcus Adams is still not 100% from his sources from the concussion he got. He didn't play in the final against us and they definitely need him back. I just think they needed a couple of players down back.
If the bench increases to 5 players I suspect many clubs will roll with 2 ruckmen, Richmond won a premiership with 2 rucks in the same side, no one would be complaining with a Cox/Naitanui combo, I think there are definite situations where 2 rucks are viable.
As for list management decisions, this isn't just about Grundy vs Hopper or Taranto vs Mitchell, it's about the complete package & whilst I think Richmond's recruiting has been solid the opportunity cost will be the players selected with 12, 19 & next year's first (also accounting for the players selected with our late third rounders).
At the moment I'm still sitting on the fence, I'm feeling Jefferson slides, Keeler probably available at 19. Those two players satisfy our immediate need for talls. I think if we manage to grab Lemmey/Gruzewski with a late pick then it probably tips back to our favour. If the Ben King rumour is true then maybe we have this covered.
I do know the clubs are all incommunicado with the player's agents during the year - is your guy happy there, is he going to re-sign or is he looking to move, we'd like to facilitate a move when he's contracts done or when he's ready, etc etc.
Sometimes it takes 2-3 years of chat between both parties. Lot's of the rumours end up on the scrap heap, a few that progress further and become reality - Lynch, Taranto. I know both were being mentioned 2-3 years before it happened from Richmond people.
Danger and Bowes share the same management, and Danger sending him messages earlier in the year, then six months later surprise surprise he picks the Cats to move too. And O'Meara when he was thinking about the Giants, his agent told him Freo have had an interest in you too, how bout them?

We don't need to see it similar to the actual competition where there is only one premier. There are many winners from the trades.
Imo North have done reasonable considering JHF was leaving, to turn 2x#1s into 2 and 3 and a future 1st, though offset by a future 2nd which will be around 20.

My question would be is Grundy an opportunity cost for a Ben King etc?

They should just get an A+ for prising Hopper out of Geelong for a start.
They’ve reset here and they’re going to have to do a Geelong over the next few years to bring in these types of players to replace those retiring.

I have been saying it since the trades finished. We were easily the best in this trade period, bringing in elite talent. Now, Bruhn, Henry and Bowes will play games here and there. They will not change the fortunes of Geelong in 2023, Taranto and Hopper will. Yes cats did well but some media giving them A+ is a deadset crock.
I found myself debating with some cats fans. I just told them the only reason the media are harping on about your trading period is pick 7 more than the players you brought in, now if you didn't get that pick no one would bat an eyelid. It's unbelievable that hey think they did so much better than everyone else.
Trying to explain that we actually brought in elite talent Taranto and Hopper and they go on about Bowes lol, Bruhn who has potential but was in and out of the GWS side. Herny shows a bit but unless there are injuries he'll be playing reserves.
