Equally as those non-muslims should be considerate of Muslims, Muslims should be considerate of non-muslims who want to sink a few after winning the world cup. And it seems that is exactly what has transpired so media beat up I reckon @mrposhman

Not sure what others think about this, but to me this is pathetic journalism.

Neither Rashid nor Ali have complained about this, and actually said they support it, yet this (and other) articles state they were "alienated".

Is this yet another example of the world we have become where people not involved in something are more outraged than those that are? Rather than them being "alienated" this was a part of the celebration which they opted not to be a part of.
What do you expect from these media scavengers Posh? I watched it live and their female partners all enjoyed the celebration.

Must admit watching live when I saw Buttler let the lads know to move away I did find myself thinking why wouldn't you just skip the champagne spraying and celebrate together? Or why couldn't you just spray non-alcoholic champagne if you're that desperate to make a mess.

I reckon spraying booze around is the most stupid and pointless way to celebrate possible and it used to *smile* me to tears after every cricket win.

Some very ordinary batting on display from England here. Clearly disinterested.

They came here for the World Cup, no idea why we are playing this ODI series. Our best players are either resting or preparing for the Test series we have in Pakistan coming up. Its weird timing for this series.

Love my cricket !!!! but 3 or 4 forms of Cricket ( in the UK ) is just too much ..Not sure of the answer however odis seem a thing of the past apart from the world cup .
Do they scrap international 20/20s and have just 20/20s for local Tournaments eg IPL , BBL etc not sure what the answer is ..I am Shure the answer is not the One Hundred ..
Test cricket and .....?

Or have beers from each country like this World Cup fan, found 32 beers so that must include Qatar, Saudi Arabia you'd think

The issue cricket has is the same thing that vexes many footy fans; sport is now a TV first, fans second event.

That's a problem for cricket because it is up there with golf in the worst sports to show on TV due to the length of the contest, so they are constantly trying to tinker with the format to find something that works best with TV.

Unfortunately for the fans, as in the AFL, they are now pretty much an irrelevance now when it comes to the financial success of the sport. Cricket Australia can make a fortune selling TV rights for a meaningless one day series vs England because a billion Indians are watching and even more out of showing it on Pay only here. That means you get weird timing and weird scheduling that doesn't attract fans outside of TV screens.

Truly amazing when you factor in how everyone is complaining about how crowded the schedule is.
Another Test, against anyone, would have been a better option, or even just let them play another Shield game.

I think people are missing the point of the one day series.

The test series against the West Indies will lose money so a three game one day series with England offsets that as a big drawing TV rights product.

Yes, lots of ads on the fence for the Indian market.

Yes, lots of ads on the fence for the Indian market.

Australian Cricket has been through a few evolutions of funding over the years since WSC.

Initially one day cricket subsidised everything, West Indies tours were the only one that was profitable, then after they became a shambles South Africa and then England bankrolled the losses from every other tour.

Then the juggernaut of India arrived and created a river of cash, and now that river has extended to whatever Indian people want to watch.

When New Zealand hosted India in 2020 they made a decade of funding from the Indian TV rights alone. They just sold the rights to show all their men and women's cricket in India until 2026 to Amazon Prime in a deal that must be worth in the hundreds of millions.

It's basically free money for cricket and the reason one day cricket still exists.

No one there, no one watching, no interest from overseas. In fact hard to find to watch on tv. So there is no way that was a big drawing rights game.
