Carlton VictoryAs I drove up Swan st from the London the stream of Victory fans didn’t appreciate my car (bright yellow) with Richmond rego plates. They boo’d and sledged me. “*smile* team mate, carn the Blues”. Nuff said.

From day 1 I’ve always thought that. Have never had any interest in the phoney B League and part of that has been due to Victory and so many of their fans being out of control “north of the city” punks and aholes.Carlton Victory
At the Coffee and Donut Bar ?Ch 7 reporting 134 cops at the game......where???
This league has been soulless from the onset. Franchise clubs with no history, no passion etc. They then invite these morons to follow their clubs with no retribution. This isn’t a one off for Melbourne Victory. From day 1 I’ve always thought that. Even after the Essendon game this year, final round, a bunch of them went running down the middle of Punt Road in heavy post game traffic chanting Victory rubbish, yelling and abusing drivers, trying to vandalise signs, bus shelters etc.
There’s a real bad and persistent problem with Victory fans. Not all of them…. but way too many of them.

Agree here. But not a one off for soccer in this country. I grew up in Bell Park which is a suburb in Geelong. The cultural dilemmas between the opposing sides and home country Croatia,England,Italy, etc really caused a stir at times. One game at Hume reserve I witnessed as a kid one player downing an opposing player and referee. After that a guy got stabbed and died. Not sure that much has changed watching a video of the recent game. This league has been soulless from the onset. Franchise clubs with no history, no passion etc. They then invite these morons to follow their clubs with no retribution. This isn’t a one off for Melbourne Victory.
And if that wasn’t apparent already, the expansion sides reiterated this. “Western United”…….talk about the epitome of nothingness. Heaping extreme soullessness on top of soullessness. This league has been soulless from the onset. Franchise clubs with no history, no passion etc.
I'm still waiting to hear how none of the pitch invaders were current active support members. Nor were any of the 100's of people in the crowd clapping at the invasion current active support members. It's all a conspiracy to get rid of the active support groups.View attachment 17693
Well, there's the *smile* who should be charged with assault.
Need to add this one to the conspiracy theories board Jazz.I'm still waiting to hear how none of the pitch invaders were current active support members. Please explain your first paragraph? It makes no sense.I just figured Melbourne Victory were South Melbourne Hellas and Melbourne City was Melbourne Croatia, colours looked familiar.
No idea what it is about soccer and crowd issues, not just a problem in Australia, they separate opposing fans at soccer games in many places, don't see that at Australian Rules or Rugby games.

I don't think they have totally moved away from the ethnic community based clubs,
Melbourne Victory’s (yet another cringy franchise name thought up by a marketing genius) colours I always thought of as simply being based on Victoria’s state sporting colours, just as Sydney FC’s were based on NSW state sporting colours, given that both Melbourne and Sydney were one team towns in the initial launch of the A-League.Nah, they have. Carlton Victory isn't a Greek club. Melbourne Hearts City aren't a Croatian club. The ethnic mix is well and truly there and neither club could claim to be predominantly a particular ethnic club.
Victory's colours are derived from the Scottish National team. Not sure where Heart's colours came from, but now City are Man City sky blue.
City supporters tend to be those that followed Victory at the start, as they were the only Melbourne Club, but got so sick and tired of the Active Supporters that they jumped at the chance to follow another Melbourne club. I put myself in that category.
