Well I was the tech manager at Altona which has shut recently and bp shut recently too. Also refining nz closed recently and they (nz) have food grade co2 supply issues to put bubbles in their beer now. Who knew closing a refinery could mean no or expensive beer eh?

Some of the other big cities like Houston, Phoenix, San Diego need to move into the winning rings territory man, hope DeMeco goes well. The Astros have, time for the Texans and the Rockets as well

I watched a documentary on J D Rockefeller last night. The initial key to his insane success and fortune was creating a high “standard” of refining of crude oil for kerosine use.

You could have helped him back in the day and cashed in maybe !

Fast growing population. City has a lot of money.

In 5 years the Knights have already won a Conference title and 2 division titles in the NHL. They have a new football team. Won’t be long before they also have a basketball team.

In time, Vegas will be a strong sports town. They will blow past most small market cities in the US very quickly.

Yeah my only thing is the holiday 'hot spots' aren't producing many winning cultures lately.

People are either there on holidays or moving in and out of the place. They just don't have a passionate local population following them.

Vegas is a sprawling, fast growing city of 3 million people. It’s been a strong growing residential city with entrenched locals for a long time now. You should research the history of Vegas. They’ve wanted their own teams for ages.

Just because a lot of people visit Vegas, doesn’t mean the 3 million people there are visiting. There’s generations of families living there now. And unlike Florida or the GC - which has a large, checked out retired/elderly population - Vegas is a young energetic population. No comparison.

I love both but Vegas wins - and by a margin. Vegas has more to do, is more centralised. Phoenix is very spread out and the key to getting around it - the 101 Freeway Loop - is a nightmare at times.

I love dozens and dozens of places over there. About the only place I haven’t liked that much is San Antonio. And also Albany. Oh and Miami as well. Vacuous, shallow and tacky place. Other than South Beach, not much to do or see there either.

But to answer your question, NYC. Always has been - although I could visit and live in a truckload of other cities in a heartbeat. Boston, Chicago, bunch of places in California, Charlestown SC, Vegas, Scottsdale and on and on.

To live well or comfortably in NYC you either need a lot of money or you need to be young and sharing accomodation and expenses. The cost of living there is BRUTAL and the work life and hours is brutal as well. Still, it’s the centre or heartbeat of the world as they say. People just make it work. It’s a different lifestyle all together.
