The one football action I want changed back is that a handball over the head/shoulder is always paid as a throw. I saw a lot of them over the weekend, almost all were throws.

Also, did anyone read about the pro-Boston NBA ref who has been using a burner account to defend himself?
Interesting, so TBR is really Ray Chamberlain with a burner account.......

3 Teams in ever game of Footy now...the Umpires version of the game VERSUS the Two competing Teams version of the game...

There has never been a prohibition on a handball above the shoulders or head. The point is whether it is a handball or a throw, way too many are throws these days.

I saw one on TV, think it was the Carlton Collingwood game last week - from the camera angle the umpire was standing directly in front of a Carlton player being tackled. The Carlton player has the ball in his right hand and just tosses it out in front of him - the umpire is looking directly at it, nothing to block his view. Play on. Just an absolute joke,

Enforce the rules as written, how can that possibly be too much to ask?

Agree, that thing Houston did on the weekend shouldn’t be a handball.

The rule was much better before it changed.

It hasn't changed for at least 50 years, and the biggest change was to outlaw the flick pass back in about the late 1960s.

There has never been a prohibition on handballing above your head, the fundamental is that you hold the ball in one hand (can be, and has always been, a moving hand) and hit it with the clenched fist of the other hand. The issue is that players now use a technique whereby the hand holding the ball is stronger, in terms of the momentum imparted on the ball, than the clenched fist hitting the ball. This is not technically against the rule, and never has been, but it is a change in technique. In any case, how do you write a rule which somehow states that the clenched fist hitting the ball must be the determinant of where the ball goes and how much force it goes with?

I'm all for calling out throws, it is a blight on the game. But citing fictional rule changes weakens the argument. Just enforce the rule as written, you must strike the ball with a clenched fist, not just chuck it out.

You might want to do what I did and send a message to TBR asking about this.

He has detailed information from the AFL which explains exactly when and how the rule changed.

Putting that aside, it’s so obvious to anyone who has played the game that handball has changed, the method we were taught and how the rule is umpired now is vastly different to the old days, I can’t believe it’s even a discussion.

Put myself through listening to kermit this morning.

Kermit is an insufferable bore. He loves the subtle put down of the listener.

What rule arte you talking about? There is no "handball" rule.

You mean definition? Cause the definition has not changed.

You mean interpretation? Well, the AFL changes that weekly.

Did you hear that loud belly laugh with Wimpy this morning? Cheese or what. "Ha ha ha....I'm halfway through my coffee!!...ha ha ha"

Kermit and razor - together they produce one big vat of vomit. Two guys that enjoy the sound of their own voices more than any other. It's surprising they can carry on a conversation.

You might want to ask TBR as well.

It’s a pity people act like such dickheads on here and make it so he doesn’t want to post himself.

Show me the rule change, come on, show me, here's where all the rules are: https://aflua.com.au/laws/

If they are enforcing something other than the rules as published by the AFL then what hope is there?

Why don’t you spill the beans if you’re so convinced by this evidence?

Not my business to share you two dug your hole you dig out of it.
Unfortunately total body rub doesn't really like being challenged, seems he's got another sycophant hooked. Or perhaps has setup a burner account?

I'm sorta surprised he's still around given the number of threats to quit he's made. Should change his username to whispering jack!

Add that to the fact he's filthy rich , well connected and extremely good looking (I added that last bit) why would one waste their time on PRE when they could be doing anything anywhere in the world?
