You know that ruck rule, where if you block the other bloke's run at a ball-up he gets a free kick? Turns out in the VFL if you block Samson's run you get a free kick. Happened again yesterday.

You know the ruck rule, where if the rucks make contact the umpire sometimes pays a random free (unless Nank is involved- then its not random.)
Hopefully Ryan is on the right end of the randomness when he plays AFL. It will surely help once he has the AA next to his name.

Unfortunately Samson is a diagnosed loser brain.

It's a shame. He had a lot going for him.

A Richmond FB page claiming Cal Twomey believes Samson is to be re-signed on a 3 year contract! Surely not.

Yeah, I head the podcast, Twomey said he expected him to signed through to the end of 2027 very shortly.

Almost drove into a ditch.

Agree. He’s a loser brain. Hopefully he can reprogram that into a winner brain. Drops his head too much like Cumbo.

If this three years is true, there must be other clubs interested. You will never get a better chance to recoup sunken costs.

There is no way Ryan deserves three years on exposed form, it would be list mismanagement to offer it and continue our habit of extending contracts too long too quickly. At best it would be one year with triggers for a second. And that's hoping that there is a huge turnaround. Its a punt but a responsible one.

If the market wants to pay him 3 years and invest that heavily in him, give me a top 30 pick. Bleed the market of the price. Once in a lifetime chance. If the market isn't wanting to pay him, why the hell are we?

Maybe signed on a minimum deal?

Back up to a backup ruck, break glass in case of emergency?

And we also signed Jacob Koschitzke on a 3 year deal when Hawthorn only offered him 1 year

Based on VFL report Samson couldn't even get a full game last game. Is really struggling atm.

You can do whatever you want around a sleeping elephant; whatever you want. But when he wakes up, he tramples everything.

At the moment he doesn't look good, but has potential. Signing him now on a 3 year deal, assuming the report is correct, is a calculated risk. It will either be a waste - but hopefully a cheap waste, or an absolute bargain. I'm willing to take the chance as long as we're not paying too much. Hopefully there is some sort of performance clause, you would think so, if he makes it then he would be worth a fair amount.
