Graham to the sub McAuliffe takes a spot in the 22
Something weird going on here. When I read your post n then replied on it, there was nothing about McAuliffe, Graham or Sonz. Then when I hit post the rest of your original post had an extra line and a bit in it.
Swapping Fridge n McA still wouldn't actually give another kid a run as McAuliffe was already getting a run as sub, that's just moving deck chairs.

He'll be played, but only because the cupboard is bare.

However I haven't seen much to indicate that he'll be on the list next year.

Eagles mids bodied him a lot at centre bounces, either Dow was trying to be aggressive or the Eagles mids know he's not physical and were targetting him.

23 games in probably expe ting more than 4 contested possessions. Last year he was playing halves where he was racking up possessions at will. Not this year. Seems to have gone backwards.

Least effective midfielder in the comp by some margin. His performance in the Dreamtime game last season should’ve been a career killer. Instead, the club was sucked in by some late season dead-rubber performances and gave him another undeserved chance.

Has no right playing AFL yet we keep giving him a game because we have to. Another example of poor list management.

His defensive running is horrific. Gives up after 1 metre pathetically ambling behind.

If you're lucky, you'll get one effort from him, but that's it, there is never a second. After 4, 5? pre-seasons he can't give a second effort.
I lost count when they got the ball from the CB they started to run in out, Dow’s half hearted first few steps, then just gave up, no chase, no pressure. Then there he was standing at CHB ball watching. Not even in a posts help out, only cheating and waiting for a dump kick out.
He needs one of the backmen to punch him in the face. He’s young, he’s lazy. He should be hungry and desperate.
I wouldn’t let in the players lounge for coffee and biscuits. Not until he earned them.

You always need to mark young players over a run of games. He's played 6 in a row now and only 1 passable game amongst them (the Swans win) isn't really anywhere near enough for him being as he's in what his 5th season. Only 1 game out of 6 that he has over 15 possessions is far from enough. The fact that he's been a starting mid for most of those games and doesn't really win anywhere near enough clearances says it all. He's not a defensive midfielder, he's an offensive one, an offensive ball winning mid that doesn't win the footy is kryptonite. Add to that his lack of defensive intent and it should be all over red rover for him.

I find the key to not getting frustrated every time Dow gets rag dolled and ran away from at a clearance is to just have some money on the opposing team to win by 30pts or more at $13. Really helps.
