Welcome Tom Brown

Thought he was poor today in patches
Twice he clearly didn’t go hard enough
Had a few mates though

Slowly building.

Like to see him improve his ground game. That will elevate his game.

His game was good IMO. I'd still like him to receive the handball a bit more regularly to get him involved in more chains, but with 17 disposals and 15 being efficient, he's a very good distributor. He still looked for those dangerous kicks, long and inboard, probably more than anyone else on the park. Need to get as many games as we can into him over the next 2 years, fast track him to 40-50 games and then we'll see how good this guy really can be.

I see very similar things with the way Sonz played yesterday, looked for kicks that others couldn't make, which will be gold once we can get a stronger team on the park, as those are the kicks that can open games up. Need both to accelerate to 50 games asap.

A very sensible, realistic and nuanced opinion Posh. (y)

Spot on. It stood out like dogs that these two could make kicks that others couldn't.

We need another 6 or 8 of these type of kickers.

Exactly, that's one of the things I liked from Brown and Sonsie yesterday, they can kick !!!

Looking at who can be our ‘Hayden Young’, Freo half back turned very good midfielder- maybe T Brown is the one in a few years.
Is very good in traffic with great vision, hands and feet and deft taps - sees the game ahead of him before he has it.
And he is tall like Fyfe. Just needs to fill out a bit and develop tank but can be done.
Definite midfield chance

Young will go back into hibernation and will be back just in time for the next time Fremantle plays us.
Can we trade Baker for Young??
Vic kid.

The things that concern me are his lack of intensity and a certain soft attack on the contest.

Hopefully just the team malaise that has got into him. But he doesn't really like extending himself at times.

Wait and see how he goes when surrounded by a more senior team.

Enjoyed his game a month ago. Not so much since.
Is he escaping a bit of scrutiny?
Nice footballer. That's it.
Another kid that shows no hunger.
Look at Dow. Look at Young & Miller
No urgency.
Compare that to Butters and Warner
At least Cumberland busts a left nut every time he plays.
The only thing missing from Brown's game is a suit because he dosent get dirty.

Indeed. Like so many of our youngsters lately he’s failed to elevate his game above just okay. Third year in the system too, should be better.
Bit hard to elevate when you're getting buried under the incoming every week. Whole team is getting hammered obviously by injury issues, but there still should be one irrefutable iron clad requirement each week and that is the commitment to effort. Senior players are the ones that should be setting the example in this and sadly a couple aren't and this flows through the entire team down to the juniors.
Bloody real easy out on the field to swing the arms, huff n puff n wobble the head to make it look like you're trying hard, but everyone watching knows.

Yep, he is a 20 year old kid who has played 9 games. The ball has come in 138 times in the last 2 weeks and with very little pressure on the ball carrier, he must feel like he is under siege at times.
Tom Brown is the least of our worries, 10 year plus player imo.
We can pick apart all our players atm but any backline player is going to struggle in today's game if there is no midfield pressure.

Yup...his kicking is his one wood...And is focused on it...needs to attack the contest with more vigor...has a touch of the Kozi about his game...sometimes goes through the motion of being a footballer!

Good shout. His 1 on 1 and defensive running has been very ordinary the past month. And getting worse.

These are the phases of youth. He has shown what he can do by foot very early on, we all got excited, as we should. Now we see him more, we start to see what he has to work on to get to 150 games. Unless he is third man up or intercepting, defensively he is a sieve. And that's fine. For now. He is going to play the rest of the yer if he is available. Want to see improvement. Can he get it more than 20 times? Can he lay a tackle? In 9 gmaes he has had 4 games without a single tackle. That's not on, at all. Energy. Without the ball, that's what we will judge him on.
