2022 Brownlow Medal

For the punters, Karl Amon was $250-1 to be Ports leading vote winner. He polled three 3-voters where he didn't get a coaches vote.

Which is exactly why the umpires shouldn't be voting on the Brownlow. The coaches don't think he's in the top 5, but the umps think he's BOG.

I don’t think having umpires cast Brownlow votes is ideal but if we want to know how the coaches vote there is a seperate voting award for that.

Cripps gets let off on his brutal bump on Ah Chee, while all those years ago, after one of the greatest first seasons ever, Dusty was ineligible for the Rising Star Award, because he had been "reprimanded" for a bump on Josh Kennedy.

The Rising Star would complete Dusty's incredible CV.............i'm still filthy about it.

Cripps is a worthy winner in any other year but the Ah Chee let off is still baffling. Asterix Brownlow.

You're the boss Gill..... you had the Houli incident appealed a few years back, you could have done the same. Ride off into the sunset Gill, most AFL supporters will be glad to see the back of you! Maybe Michael Waner can start writing AFL stories again!

Reckon Shai comes across as a bit arrogant to the umpires and that would be a factor in giving him max votes. Nick Daicos is top 5 certainty next year

That Shai throws his arms in the air a fair bit, (similar to Rozee), when he gets impeded would be irksome to the umps, a lot of the time the free is there but umps will never pay them if you are flapping your arms in appeal.

Doesn’t stop umps paying those frees to the Pussies or Cartoon

That's why I wish Jack would just cop it sweet sometimes, he'd get more of the ones that are line ball............you know..........the ones Shovekins gets or doesn't give away.

Im glad a proper footballer won the brownlow.

Frodo baggins carved us up, and i rate him higher than i used to,

But i still reckon hes the tom mitchell 40 disposals 100m gained type.

Ah well, what's happened has happened. The MRP and tribunal is a joke, and a lottery more often than not.

So when you have a win like Cripps did, and by extension, the fans, then of course we'll take it when you're up against such a flawed system.

Maybe if the AFL are fair dinkum, they'll use this case to pave the way for serious change in this space. Because agree with it or not, we've ended up with a situation at the end (five or so weeks after the fact), where the league has been made to look foolish.

Many many players have been suspended for much much less. Marlion Pickett the prime example.
Exactly and that's why they should get rid of the fairest part. Unlike the old days many suspensions now are frivolous.

Amon 15 votes, D Rioli 0 votes. These types of farces happen every year, but Beggars belief.
Not surprising, count how many backmen received 3 votes. It's mostly midfielders otherwise forwards who kicked bags of goals.
