2024 Draft Thread

Yeah, and so what's your problem with what I'm saying then ?????? !

Here's a tip for you Bungal. If you're gonna try and be a smart arse, think it through a lot better beforehand because your attempt right now is an abject failure.
Who's being a smart arse Robbie ,like l said you changed your tune, after posting for months about WE MUST GET MIDFIELD SPEED FROM THIS YEARS CROP.

get a few picks pack back that we gave the Lions, they've got a truckload, 46, 47, 49, 56, 59, 66, 69, 95 & 99
The Lions have me wondering, too. We'd only do it if it involved their F1.

While that might end up being pick #20 or something in 2025, would they hand over, say, picks #46, #47 and #56 as well, which we could bundle up and resell?

Richmond gets Brisbane F1, #46, #47 and #59
Brisbane gets pick #28 and maybe our F4

All depends on whether there is someone at #28 they really want.

With Daniher retiring and a few quality talls left on the board ... hmm.

The big O is also not getting any younger ... is Dodson of interest to them?

Trainor's reaction was priceless! Even more so when you compare it to Langford's. Poor fella was looking around for a tall building to jump off when he should have been celebrating getting drafted. So close to getting to the Tigers mate... so close! :(
As a Richmond supporter Melbourne would have been his worst nightmare. Their 2 best mids want out and the new guy wants out before arriving 😅😅

Bungal. Seriously. We're gonna have to send somebody up there to check your meds in that care home.

Before tonight, how many 2025 1st round picks did we have ? 1. Yeah ? Now, it looks like it'll be 3. You get that yeah ?

SO WE DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT IN 2024 ANYMORE AS SUCH BUNGAL.

I'll say it again Bungal. If you wanna be a smart arse, plan a lot better than this old man !

Armstrong who we rated in the 5-7 category
And yet we picked 5 players before him haha. So we either got 6 of our top 7 ranked players, they strategically had perfect vision of other club selections, or he's adding some mayo 🤣

We have the next 4 or 5 drafts to build our list.
After the 2025 season we will have a lot of cap space.

The next 2 drafts are important ,in 2026 we have a highly rated NGA Tanner Armstrong, and also F/S Jack Leys who looks promising ,then 2027 Tassie are involved.
So lm sure we will be looking at free agents etc to add as well.

I can't see Brisbane trading their F1, they need as many picks next year as possible. Another top 5 mid incoming. They've basically re-built their midfield, whilst at the top due to the benefits of the Father/Son and academy systems.

Going into 2026, they will have added (ages and pick numbers) - Will Ashcroft (22 - Pick 2), Jaspa Fletcher (22 - Pick 15), Levi Ashcroft (20 - Pick 5), Sam Marshall (20 - Pick 25) and Daniel Annable (19 - Possible top 5), all whilst being right at the top, potentially off back to back premierships as they will be hard to stop next year.

Wouldn't worry about the speed-midfield gap. Yeah right now it hasn't been addressed but that's short term thinking.

As Blair said, we're trying to build a team and not looking for instant gratification. To that end, it looks like we'll have 3 early 1st round Draft picks in 2025 so there's much more to come with this build via the Draft.

9 picks inside the 1st round of the AFL Draft over 2 years. That is unprecedented.

If there was to be any concern, it wouldn't be over the positional needs, mids, speed, whatever. It'd be that 3 players are coming to us off serious injuries.

That's the real risk with what we've done, but even then, that's somewhat mitigated by the fact we've got said 9 1st round picks and can wash that risk through a bit.

Blair is unreal. Genius.
I can’t buy in to the Blair is a genius talk.
If he was, how did our list get into such diabolical shape to begin with?

You’re right about recruiting players coming off serious injuries. The risk factor is huge.
Not forgetting the umpteen players coming back from serious injury already on the list.

Risk factor way too high IMO.

Give me Melbourne’s recruiting guru any day.

Club's never roll out - "We can't believe player x was available at our pick. We had him ranked 1,236 spots higher".

Wouldn’t surprise me if we took Tom Gross.

Fits the mould of what we are building and has the explosive speed.

Gross aint explosive Smoker. Good tough workhorse.

Reckon it's his speed that's stopped him being taken last night.

Lions will want to keep for academy prospect next year would think 8-ball.
