Adem Yze

Got outclassed by The Honky Tonk Man today.
He had the chance to move a tall foward and he persisted with the blokes that were doing nothing

Great post. Not to nick your thunder, but a couple of other points:

1. Given the injuries we have endured to key players, the fact he has been unwavering in his commitment to his playing style has been very impressive. Rugged defensively, hunt clearances, stick tackles.
2. His style is what the elite teams play and what is now THE way to play. Look at how we sag off manning the mark and look at how Dimma has the Suns playing. Yesterday's man still has his players manning the mark like it's pre 2021. There's a reason why they have been leaking goals constantly.

Great points (Sins were too).

I love that he's backing the players in, even if they make mistakes as long as they are trying to play the style he wants to teach them which is corridor footy. Last week MRJ missed a couple of kicks into the corridor in the 1st half, he could have dropped his head and worried that the coach wouldn't support him, but he knew Yze would be backing him in, so kept going with the corridor kick and we were rewarded by that in the 2nd half.

Seth did similar today (though didn't tidy it up) but Yze will back him in as he's trying to play through the dangerous part of the ground. We will concede goals due to this, but we are playing the long game here and I'm loving what Yze is doing with the boys.

Half of winning a premiership is cattle, the other half us system, ball use and whats between the ears. Yze knows we don't have part A of those 2 parts, but wants to teach Part B which will set some of these players up to be much better players across their careers than going the safe option.

Compare how we have played the last few weeks to the Bombers. They love their stat padders that take the easy safe option, but thats also a reason why they won't be winning anything anytime soon.

Loved Bomber James. If he wasn’t slow as treacle he would have been a very good player.
Steven Ryan could play a bit as well, as could his brother Des.
Do better Zips, Scott Homewood anyone?
Homewood the greatest Richmond player ever, to never to play a game.
Your more a Patty Steinfort bloke

I posted about that on Friday night after their game Mr P. Essendon cannot be successful in the long term with that game plan ….but let’s not tell them !!!

Even Beverage is catching on at the dogs. His major stat padders in Daniel and Macrae are finding themselves in and out of the team.

Todd Elton? Ty Vickery - what a waste. Ben Griffiths - should have made it. Stuart Edwards - shooting star. Stephen Jurica - another shooting star.

Historically we’ve relied on 1-2 key forwards and whenever they’ve been injured, we’ve struggled.

Since 1979, in my football attending life time (of the great tall forwards), we’ve had Roach, Cloke, Taylor, Hogg, Richardson, Ottens (granted he was a 1st ruck), Riewoldt and Lynch. Maybe Balta will join that group.

Mark Jackson left in the 80’s as he couldn’t get a game.

Who could forget Richard Lounder. Kicked 4 goals in his first game v Norf in ‘89 and then went into oblivion.

He did a great job today to get the team so close with a couple of D grade key forwards.
