Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

When the game was in the balance he was fantastic, great game Bachar.

10 contested possessions, was brave in the air. Yesterday he demonstrated a willingness to put his body on the line of which he’s been criticised for his entire career. Seemingly improving so late in his career

Bachar is a champion of our club who I expect will be signed on for next season, once Shai Bolton has signed. Just hope that Ralph is aware of the responsibility Shai has to leave a bit in the kitty.

I had him retired at qtr time. Still not sure he and Short can play in the same team come finals.

Houli gets more of the ball and Short is more lethal with it. But would prefer Houli at this stage

Maybe MC are waiting till finals to drop one of them. Or more likely they're both a lock for finals. Can't see us making wholesale changes now, particularly having won 8 in a row and giving away the lowest combined score in the league in that time. The backline is purring.

I had my heart in my mouth when Houli and Ellis were running it out handballing to each other (i think the 3rd term), but neither of them spilt the wet ball, and it was cleared well. He was good yesterday, but all this season i've been contemplating whether we lose more if he stays on next year, considering the young pups we have on the way up that we may lose through lack of opportunity. This feeling gets stronger when he has games where he coughs the ball up under pressure etc.

One thing i do know for a fact from talking to a couple of guys in the playing group is that they all have enormous respect for way her prepares himself. So there's a bit of a culture loss as well if he did finish up.

But forgetting all that and just living in the moment, you can't knock his game against the Weagles.

There’s a good chance Houli will hang up the boots.
If so I would love the club to ransack Adelaide and try and get Laird
Or Haynes.
Give away the first rounder. We *smile* them down the drain away. We need to approach the next 2-3 years like hawthorn did.

Haynes is a gun but plays more tall than small.

I'd be interested in Bailey Williams who is struggling to get a consistent game at the Dogs. A playmaking defender with poise in traffic.

OK. Generally good Antman. Had a very ordinary start and as usual had his Houli moments. Good intent in the last and some nice touches and link up play most of the day.

I'd say he did his job well both offensively and for the most part defensively although his opponent did kick 3 goals .
Are you suggesting Houli was on the 1 opponent all day? Or did he get 3 kicked on him across the game by different opponents?

We need to chase defenders tall, small, medium sized I don’t care.
Laird is a gun footballer playing under a dichead
Haynes is exactly the one we need. He is as good as mark I’ve seen in the AFL.
Houli, Ellis, McIntosh all go, that’s 700-800 freed up.
We need to go hard to build our defence. No softkok ones like Lever or Tomlinson

Houli gone?
He’d be the most in form retiree since Carlton decided to end Daisy Thomas career.

Clearly you aren't a Houli fan but he will play on next year. The only way he may not go around again is if we win the premiership again. I suspect even if we did, he would play again next year anyway. He always gets a late contract extension much like Grigga used to.

This thread reminds me of the Bernie thread. But where the Bernie thread was a mini-series, this is Neighbours like in its longevity.

But they all come around eventually.

Still makes me nervous in contested situations, but give him the ball in a bit of space and he will do his job with aplomb.
Yes he has been excellent. Left foot delivery, run and carry back to his 2017 finals form. He is an important link in the chain transferring the ball forward and he is winning his share of contested possessions with no signs of weak efforts that I have seen. Having a great season and should play on next year.

Crucial player for our premiership chances imo. A very dedicated player and clearly very committed to the cause of the RFC winning another premiership. I also hope he plays on next year. It would be terrible to see him ever running around for another club.
