Back-To-Back-To-Back: 2019-2020-2021

this thread, and Marlion The Musical, will be great summer reading

As an aside was there a Fremantle in the WAFL? There may be if Freo is actually South Fremantle or East Fremantle but I am not sure it is.
Someone on here will know
I grew up in WA and there was no 'Freo Dockers'. I always considered the Dockers as an amalgamation of the Sharks and the Bulldogs but I could be wrong.

Both clubs continued in the WAFL after the Dockers entered in '95 just like the Port Magpies still existed after the Port Power entered the comp.

Do the Bloods and Fitzroy premierships get the retrospective flag count for the Swans and Lions???

Its a funny one.

Hawthorn beat 3 different (interstate) teams, geelong beat 3 different teams. Geez they dig deep to try and find an asterix!!!!

Another asterix searcher I heard is that we haven't had to travel to Perth to play the Eagles! FMD...

EDIT: just read the article lol ok its about the Eagles but still what a load of CODSWALLOP!!!

As much as I woudda loved 4 in a row, There is something so special about the '17 win that meant it had to be its own 'thing", seperated from the forthcoming 3 peat :)

I am still too busy reliving the 2020 final annihilation to worry about the 2021 season and another flag for a few days. However once preseason training starts my dreams of a 2021 GF final will start

Just to add a bit to The Freo Dockers "History".
In 1994 I played in the Suprules Carnival in Perth, the Dockers were setting the club up at the time. As a bit of fun 6 or so of us wandered down to the Dockers Offices to "Offer our Services"
The guy we spoke to had a good laugh about it. We had a good chat to him about what their set up would be.

He said that they were a totally new organisation, they weren't affiliated with either South or East Fremantle. The only thing that had anything to with either club was that they were going to use the South Fremanle ground as a training base

When Sydney made the Grand Final in 1996 I remember most of their supporters talking about their chances for a 4th flag. In 2001 some Brisbane supporters I knew were talking about their maiden flag and others about number 9. I think it depends on whether or not you are talking to cemented-on South Melbourne or Fitzroy fans.

Yeah, I think Fitzroy supporters chop and chAnge on their support (usually depending on whether Brisbane is doing well or not...)

Interesting read regarding our dynasty - it sort of undermines what we have done and downplays our dominance.

To build a team during the compromised drafts and then to continually blow away our opposition shows how dominate we are - just because the opposition can’t keep up with us means jack crap and shows the world how good we are - not the other way round.

They fail to see how we not just scrape over the line in tight games (which we can do re Port), but we destroy teams to the point they can’t recover.

Hilarious article. We've been constantly told firstly about how good the Crows were. Then the Pies and WC. And heaps of people tipped Geelong. Now there are no legitimate challengers. When will it end?

I am driven by the facts Anty. When I posted tables which set out win loss percentages they pretty much speak for themselves. Any melts posters might have had speak to their own preconceptions or idiosynchrasies.

Of course Dimma has rectified his initially poor finals record. No 1 and outstripped Clarko

Scotty doesn't fare quite so well.
Dimma has won 10 of his last 12 finals...

Coach's records are determined a lot by where a team was when he took over. Since his first 3 seasons where he had a poor win record Dimma has a 65% record and it's 75% in the last 4 years.
Scott took over a near premiership team.
There are a couple of other stats that I like about the last 4 years
One is that since and including 2017 we have a 28-13-1 record up to the halfway mark of the H&A season ( round 9 classed a halfway in 2020) but after that point we have a 45-10 record including finals, that's 82% !!
The other is that this year is the first time in those 4 years that we don't have the best record of any team in the whole season including finals. Our record was 15-5-1 this year with Brisbane and Port both having a 15-4 record for the year. Even in 2017 our 18-7 was better than Adelaide's 17-7-1. In 2018 our 19-5 was better than the premier west Coast.

We can still do it Iso.
'17 is special and stands on its own.
And we are in the middle of a 4 in a row. Halfway and counting

This remains (at the moment) one of my favourite web pages.

Geelong + Cameron, Higgins and Isaac Smith will be a team to avoid till the GF next year. Talk about topping up. Higgins, Smith and Selwood do not have a large premiership window left but they will give it a major shake.

Do yourself a favour and watch what i have posted below , Its a great 6 minute laugh

To be fair, most of what they said would have been a fair call at the time, but isn't hindsight wonderful?

"Time for Brett Deledio to pursue a premiership with a club that may allow him to do so because he's not going to get one at Richmond"
No, Damien. He might have got three.

"Don't bring in Dion Prestia".
Yeah right.

I could have stomached that video a bit better if Lloyd had worked harder at hiding that smirk that was on his face just about the whole time.
