Just noticed your post...
Christ that brings back memories..... Rock at the Croc..... ashamed to say I may of staggered out of there and driven home in the very late 70's.
When I think about it now I wonder how l ever made it to work each morning!
(Giving myself an imaginary uppercut as I write.)

Saw the Bootleg Beatles at the Palms at Crown last night and it’s true what they say about the BB , it’s the closest thing to see the Beatles as you’ll get, excellent.

Interesting article about the challenges live artists are facing currently post pandemic.
Appreciate your gig.

Hmm, add to this that artists used to make a bit on records, a low proportion of the cost of records even years ago, and compare that to what they make off streaming: f*ck all, and it makes it hard to make a living even as a popular artist.

What a mess.

It isn't like ticket prices are cheap these days compared to years gone by. Even with inflation I reckon the $5 it cost to see The Rolling Stones at Kooyong in 1973 is probably cheaper in real terms than most of today's prices.

Someone's making money, but it ain't the artists, although at the moment maybe no-one is making more than a pittance.

Unless this adds up for the artists then live music won't happen.

Yeah, it’s a minimum $200 to see an international act eg Chilli peppers, KISS, Elton John, Rod Stewart. Multiply by 3 (wife and daughter) and it’s a bloody expensive night.

Having said that I see Hamilton tickets have been slashed to $70 and I had a look and the theatre is half booked for upcoming shows.

Dunno. There is a squillion tours coming up. Chili Peppers, arctic monkeys, Gunners, the Killers, Billy Joel, Elton John, Alestorm (for Taz), and others.

Plus heaps of Aussie acts.

I went to see a punk rock show of local bands at the Bendigo Hotel in Collingwood last weekend. Was a great show but I've been crook with covid since Monday and i'm 99% sure that's where I picked it up. There was basically zero ventilation in that packed band room.

Let's start with three years' worth of shows happening in one.

That's the problem. So many tours which is great for us (if you can afford it) but not so great for the artists with so much competition for audience, labour & resource.

I've got The Killers, the Offspring, Billy Joel & The Black Crowes over the next month.
It's awesome it's back & I am doing my best to support live music but I'm sympathetic to the artists.

I had a great summer here in the U.K., seeing a lot of my favourite bands - Counting Crows, James, Stereophonics, Ocean Colour Scene, Sam Fender, among others.

Just survived Crowded House at Mt Duneed. Should have been canceled. Car parks only open to 4WD. Cars getting bogged on the way in. At least 100 bogged on the way out. Was lucky to get out.

Saw the Gunners at Metricon tonight.
Axl was great, Duff really good on his guitar but Slash was amazing, he is undoubtedly the star of the show :eyes
An artist at his craft off the highest order

A 3hr 4 minute set list, with a pretty epic ending!!
Considering going to the 'G next Saturday when they're down in Melbourne, whoever's going you're lucky buggers :eyes

His best guitars where the yellow and black ones
