Just want your thoughts on who you think we'll get the best in return for? Could be either draft picks, or players.

Need to try and trade both Ottens and Bowden,
We have replacements for both. *smile* and Hall would be back up for Stafford. *smile* will probably play this week against Western Bulldogs.Would get someone real good for Ottens, a quality on baller perhaps

N oway do we trade Otttens. No way i nhell. He is judged harshly by you folk. Not enough quality talls going around and you want us to trade our 22 yo gun ruckman who hasnt even hit his peak yet. No way i nhell. Hed be one of the last players id like to get rid of.

Totally agree, why would you trade Ottens are you daft?

Richo most certainly I would trade if I could, Bowden most definately too, Rory Hilton might fetch a little, Kayne Pettifer also some, no one else has any real value.

Offer Richo to Bulldogs or Geelong
Offer Bowden to St.Kilda or Geelong or Bullies

Demand early picks for each one and try to nab a talented young player, eg. Daniel Cross or James Bartel also. Rory Hilton has some interest, believe me, Melbourne are indeed interested in him and would possibly give up a 3rd rounder or secound rounder for him, I say take that and run to the hills. Kayne Pettifer we could swap for another young kid with potential that suits our needs more, I know I mention this kid a lot but Blake Campbell I have seen play and he reminds me of Chris Newman the way he plays, and if we nab him we could push Newman into the midfield and play Blake in the role that we play Chrissy now.

Notice ive only gone for draft picks and players under 21 years of age, thats the direction we need to take now, start the list with chock full of young talent and get a young coach with a bit of fire in the belly (Mark Harvey) and let them all grow together along with us!!

It will be more exciting and have a more bubbly, youthfulness enthusiasm around the place, sure we wont be great but we will be moving in the right direction and more importantly showing we have a plan in place.

jackstar your in cuckoo land if you think we have enough talls
ottens potentially best tall on list
richo most over rated player in afl
*smile* good player can onlly play back
vardy not up to afl level
staff good ruckman getting on a bit
holland too slow below average footballer
schulz 17yr old long way to go
moore rookie listed long way to go
hall needs to improve a lot & bulk up
these are the only genuine talls on the list there is no depth we need to draft at least 4 more hope fully guys who can play both ends of the ground we also need to get rid of the 4 duds on the list so theres another 4 we need to draft

You will fit right in on the football department of the last six years with this type of thinking. We will remain in Werribee park for the next ten years. Just look at R F C not K F C from todays Age post.

Everyone thought Richmond were mad when we traded our club captain in Jeff Hogg in 1994. We got two excellent players for him and what happened? We made the finals in 1995, isnt that strange. Ottens need s to be traded, i am sorry but hard decisions need to be made, also there is no else who is likely to attract interest anyway. I mentioned Bowden in an earlier post but who would take someone who is frightened ! Or didnt you see Joel duck his head and put one hand in the air last friday night.??

I think we'd get the most if we traded Otto, but I also think he's one of our most important players to keep to build a new future on.

Hands off him.

I think Tivva would have to be worth more as trade bait than Bowdo too, though Joel does have very impressive stats to show off. Pity they don't tell the full story.

Well said rosy, we would get more for Ottens, thats the point. Remember the Jeff Hogg situation. Club Captain leading goalkicker(he actually is the last Tiger to kick 10 goals in a game )etc. You have to trade someone good.!

I wish supporters would realise that instead of throwing up the Rory Hiltons of this world.

As for Joel Bowden, stats do lie.
Does ducking your head count as a stat ????

You also have to weigh up the needs of the team. If we're building a young team, a young developing ruckman/key forward is vital too. We already have that in Otto.

Trade someone else to get a midfielder to work with him.

Hands off him.

I'm with you rosy, Otto stays. Full stop. He is the 'gun' to build a team around. Sell a couple of left-footers and get some more quality kids.

Well Rosy 3, thats a difference of Opinion.
Thats why this is a forum!
If Richmond had so many stars and players with outstanding ability, we would be in the finals.
When can you remember Ottens playing an outstanding game. It wasnt last year either. I actually cant. You are only as good as your LAST game. We have held on to the Duncan Kellaways for too long as everyone falls in love with our players and think they are actually better than they are really are. Both Ottens and Holland are bandits and are getting OVERPAID and not delivering, injuries or No injuries. One point of view, Wayne Campbell must be Bleeding for taking a pay cut to see players get more money then him and not perform.

You have to be Kidding to trade Ottens ive never heard so much rot before, hes just come back from a back injury,we have all seen what he can do,,i say put him in front of a coach with some tropheys and a brain then watch what a good coach can get out of him,,the last thing you want to do is to let go of him, imagine if he went to Adelaide or Essendon gets coached by a brain and wins the Brownlow gees id hate to be a tiger supporter if that happened,,,HAND OF THIS BLOKE AND HANDS OF COUGHLAN AND GASPAR the rest do as you please.

I totally agree with shawry, Rosy and Tigerbob on this one. No way known would I want to see Otto traded.

When this Club actuallly re-discovers the art of developing players (hopefully some time real soon), then we will get to see what he is really capable of. His talent is obvious. We don't need to get rid of that type of player, we need to add to the list.

Turn over the list, by all means, but keep those that will help us to get to the finals.

The only true way to build a team for success is start from the bottom. Get young players in, no more trading for players who want to extend their career at another Club.

As Rosy says, hands off.

Just a point of view,Love them or hate them Collingwood have picked up from OTHER clubs either by trade or by draft the following players and Collingwood is probably going to end up in the top four and probably play off for the second year in a row. All the following players are from other clubs. Buckley, Rocca,Woowodein,Williams,Wakelin,Clement,Freeborn.Molloy,Mckee, Obree, . They have let go some very good players who would be a walk up start in our team, mentioned a few that come to mind are Mal Michael, Paul Williams, Nick Davis, I think Williams won the best and fairest with the Swans last year and will probably win it again this year. All I am saying is that you have to Trade GOOD players NOT DUDS .

Agree with what you say jackstar, but some of us would prefer to build a team, rather than bring in old for old.

You can trade for draft picks, but Otto is 23. His best football is still ahead of him and players like him don't come along all that often. Trade others ahead of Otto.

And he is tall, a department which has shown up to be sadly lacking the past couple of seasons.

Hey laff, good to see you are objective and know your football. Its obvious you dont fall in love with footballers cause they play for Richmond.
If Brad Ottens was employed by any corporate company, he would be at centrelink by know. ::)
