Callum Coleman-Judas - extricate yourself to Nth Ballarat, you git

Take 20 for him and use it Williams or Bazzo or the like if they are there, replace tall for tall.

Thats if they dont try and use it to trade up.
Yep agree Craig. If Norf offer us pick 20 then we should take it and run. If it’s GC then we / they have more to offer picks wise.

Ryan's first year is also miles behind what CCJ showed in his first year. CCJ was actually pretty ok in that one off game against Essendon.
I was there and I don’t recall him doing much. I think he is a good player but what I remember is a skinny kid running around not doing a lot. Which is what you would expect of a 200 cm 19 year old.

Losing CCJ after showing signs as a big man would be a horrible outcome. Disaster, can't be painted any other way. You don't draft big guys, hold them for three years, give them 10 games then let some other mob come in and cherry pick for nothing just as they come good.

Big guys take longer, the CCJ graph is trending the exact right way. How good he ends up is the unknown but I'll eat my hat if he doesn't play over a 100 games of league footy. We must find a way to keep him. Any talk of Samson being like for like is miles off.

Agree for the most part Scooper, but that’s precisely the argument - the club can’t offer CCJ senior game time right now so we look to invest in blokes like Ryan who’ll be coming through when our senior blokes are gone.

CCJ is stuck in between. Not ideal but the price of three flags.

I don’t know whether he will be a player or not but it’s not a fair comparison. Is samson Ryan ahead of him in CCJs first season is the correct comparison. CCJs first game against Essendon a few years ago was pretty underwhelming as I recall.
It was a win, though. Terrible conditions for a big guy, too.

I agree with the big guys take longer mentality and I can see why people like the kid but unless we know the kind of contract thats on the table from both clubs I'll back our mob in to make the correct call on him.
Just for balance Balta was taken 5 picks later in the same draft and pushed his way into a premiership team.
The big fellas may take longer but some have proven themselves and some are still at the 'shows potential' stage.

CCJ has to win his spot on merit like all our team is supposed to do so all the club can do is to help him take the path required without false promises.

CCJ should share ruck with Nank and Soldo made to reclaim his spot if form an issue. CCJ/Nank combo resting forward are good for 2 goals a game

No, you're wrong. He is out of contract. He has not served enough years to be a FA or RFA. Like Jack Martin a few years back who then went on to join the blues via PSD and GC got nothing. Now, if CCJ decided to go to the PSD we would get nothing.
I don't think this will happen, wouldn't think CCJ would screw us, so North will likely hand over pick 20 and that'll be it unless both clubs do some other deal.

FREE AGENCY

What defines free agency in the AFL? If a long-serving player (at least eight years) is falling out of contract, he is classed a free agent by two categories –

RESTRICTED: Players in top 25 per cent of salary bill at the club. He can only move if his current club declines to match free agency offers.

UNRESTRICTED: Players in bottom 75 per cent of the salary bill at the club. He can move as he wishes, regardless of offers from his current club.

Since 2019, “a player who at any time becomes or previously was a free agent will be a free agent at the end of each subsequent contract”.

DELISTED: Players cut by their clubs – are “free agents” regardless of tenure in the game.
Apologies!! Yes looks like I was wrong on this ! That being the case , disgraceful if he leaves after the club stood by him and he cost someone at the club their job!

His first game I seen was 2019 and I was impressed for a young ruck to get 13 touches.

I looked it up. Actually was 2019 so his 2nd season. 13 possessions with 63% game time.
Did better than I remember. No Nank or Soldo so played first ruck
Edit: just saw Jokershoppes post above

CCJ had 13 disposals,3 marks, 5 tackles, and 10 hitouts in 2019. If we weren't a powerhouse he wouldn't ever have been dropped. On his current game average Ryan won't reach that as a total even if he played an infinite number of games. I'm not knocking Ryan but losing a promising tall now like CCJ is madness.

Roos will offer us a 3rd rounder nothing more
Why would they gives us anything more when they can get him for free in PSD.. he and they will shaft us

I don't believe that at all,ccj is of good character and will not use the pre season draft , he was captain of sa and wants fair compo to go to Tigers.

It's not like we didn't want to play him our success was the issue. To be honest he can't use the lack of opportunity word this this year played 8 games , missed 7 suspended and 2 injuries.I don't want him to go , but hey no one is bigger then the club and he let us us down bigtime last year.

I reckon if he had played earlier this year as he should have, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

I’ve said it a few times, it is incumbent on the coaches to fit the best players we have into a system in the 22. In this case, the coaches took too long to figure it out.

He should be best 22 for us in 2022. If the coaches have said that’s unlikely, he should leave and we certainly can’t complain about poor compensation as we’ve partially shot ourselves in the foot.
