I was a little critical of Paine the other day, but only for failing to convert the starts he so often gets into big scores. There is no doubt he is the right man for the job in the current circumstances.

Good to (finally) have you on board mate. Welcome! ;D

Now just need JB and a couple of others to see the light!!

Hilarious banter from Paine to Vijay about Kohli: "I mean I know hes your captain but you seriously cant like him as a bloke"

I wouldn't call it funny. And, Kohli strikes me like one his teammates would love to play with so comes across more as a cheap shot. Not cutting or funny at all IMO.

The stump mikes only highlight how inane 90% of the banter is. It's why the real funny lines stand out so much.

Kohli strikes me as a petulant brat. He’s the “Dave Warner” of the Indian team.

Read earlier posts. I'm already a fan.

Cheap shot? Have you been watching and listening to Kohli?

Australia win by 146 runs. An excellent effort as a fractured team trying to reestablishing itself against the no.1 ranked team.

Nowhere near him in terms of behaviour. Ultimately Aust has (hopefully had) the worst reputation in world cricket and has had for a number of years, Kohli has taken the fight to them. I admire him for it.

Spot on. We have been head and shoulders the worst behaved in the world for decades.

I admire Kohli for not meekly accepting it.

He hasn't been great, he also sails close to the "line" but that's irrelevant to finding Paine's comment hilarious.

“Meekly accepting” what?

Oh I dunno. Perhaps the stuff that Mooen Ali has been talking about - being called Osama...

You know, classy, highbrow, tasteful stuff like that.

Yeah, like Andrew Simonds being called a “monkey” by Singh but anyway, you’re referring to Moeen Ali, what was Kohli not “meekly accepting”?

Singh was a disgrace. A very poor sport. And that incident was poorly handled by Aust (and acknowledged as such in retrospect).

But listen to the poms, sth africans, Indians talk about Aust - easily the worst behaved side in the world for the last 2 decades plus. Have you watched any recent docos or read articles where behaviour is discussed?

Kohli isn't liked because he has fouight fire with fire, and been able to back it up with performances. As long as he doesn't go to far I can appreciate him.

I would prefer some things are kept for the players only. Not sure I like the intrusion into the rooms.

Ian, there are some that the Australian cricket team can never please, unless they meekly roll over and accept defeat every time they take the field.
