Punter? On the radio this morning, the quiz question: Who is the only cricketer in history who had a higher batting average than Smith after 65 tests?
Or was it Jimmy Padams?

That was my immediate thought, but he didn't play that many tests.I’ll go for the obvious Bradman.
Played about 60, I think. But had a better average. That was my immediate thought, but he didn't play that many tests.
While Lyon and Cummins will rightfully receive the plaudits for their day 5 bowling, I am struggling to remember a better wicketless performance than Peter Siddle's. Poor bloke had no luck at all. Bowled beautifully.
Bradman only played 52 Tests.
Viv?
Ken Barrington?
Sobers?
He didn't play 65 Tests either.Sutcliffe I think i just had a quick look ....probably wrong
Yup. Sobers. Well done!Bradman only played 52 Tests.

Waugh wouldn't even make the semis. Chappell, Harvey, Border, Hayden, Gilchrist ahead of him.
I'd have Clarke, Martyn, Slater and Junior Waugh ahead too.
Whats wrong with trying to lift your batting average? And Dean Jones who had more batting talent in his left plum than Steve Waugh.
Hate seeing Waugh in the coaching ranks at the moment. Must be a lot of team meetings about trying to lift your batting average.
Ponting was already mentioned, with Smith. Those two the best Aussie bats I've seen. Never thought I'd see a better Aussie batsman than Punter, and it's worth remembering that his average was over 60 at his peak as well, but Smith is something extraordinary. I'll rate who's better at the end of his career.Ponting as well.
Jones himself said both Waughs had more talent in their pinky fingers than he had in his entire body. And Dean Jones who had more batting talent in his left plum than Steve Waugh.
So a run out *smile* up proves Waugh was “selfish”. Please.... every one who’s played cricket has been involved in a terrible run out.Depends how you go about it I guess.

Have a look at England's 1989 bowling attack. None of them would get a game for Tasmania.I loved all those players, you could make a case for some, wouldn't be easy, but Martyn? come off it. Waugh reeled off feats Marto, a good player, could only dream about. Never forget the 1989 ashes, they couldn't get him out until the third test! Was the world no. 1 bat at one stage. Skipper. Marto could almost make a case to carry Waugh's cricket bag.
