Cricket

You know that’s what he offers. An attractive 20-30 and that’s all

At leat Mark Waugh would average mid 40s before he got himself out

in the old days we would have hard nuts batting at 3. Not anymore
Umm... Waugh averaged just under 42 for his career. Khawaja averages just over 42... Not defending him too strongly though...

Yeah true though his average home vs away is very different. Home on our nice flat decks its over 50, away its 30. Like a lot of cricketers of this generation.

Mark Waugh averaged pretty much the same home and away. Anyway if you gave me a choice I know who I would prefer.

Mark Waugh would have average 45 or higher if he could turn his 100’s into bigger scores. Never did. I think he got over 150 once in 20 test match hundreds.

I don't get why there hasn't been more questions asked about bancroft being selected.

Was **** before sandpaper gate. Nothing has changed since.

I reckon there must have been a deal done when he was banned for a year. No other explanation.

It beggars belief that Renshaw is given so little chance but Bancroft is when his technique is clearly inferior. The only answer can be Langer.

I think the only reason that Bancroft is playing is because Langer wants left and right handed openers. Bancroft has always struggled outside off stump, i'll will give him some credit though, he's a fighter.
It's a shame Joe Burn had his health issue a few months back, as i really rate him. He's a right hander, i think he may have got selected after getting a big hundred against Sri Lanka last summer.
Langer needs to remember that he and Hayden were left handed openers.

Apart from Smith and our Bowlers the Poms should be ashamed of themselves if they let the Aussies retain the Urn over there on their turf.

Australia is lucky Anderson is cooked.

Time to blood some kids against the Kiwis next summer and the Pakis.

Kurtis Patterson, Sammy Heazlett, Matt Renshaw, and Marcus Harris, Alex Carey take your pick.

Bancrofts test scores since debut November 2017 : 5, 82, 10, 4, 25, 26, 27, 0, 5, 53, 38, 24, 77, 26, 8, 7, 13 @ 26.87. It’s a list of mediocrity.

Thanks Cameron but that’ll do for a while now.

Mediocrity? You’re being too kind.

Aussies might wanna start doing a rain dance out the back of the pavilion could do with another day washed out at this rate.

Smithy gonna have to bring up another 100 would be quite funny if he did to even up the first innings totals that will just about do the Poms.

Fantastic session.

In lieu of us batting last The kid and Smith have now batted England out of the game.

Only two results possible.

"Once again, Tim Paine looks good, but only makes a 20. Nothing of substance." - SK Warne dealing truth.

Paine out for 23. “Looked good but nothing of substance” was how Warnie described his innings. As I said you need your no.7 averaging better than 20. Timmy’s not cutting it in the batting department.

It's all about results, Leysy. I can like Paine (I do) and think his time is just about up. 14 Test innings since his last 50, just two 50s (best 62) in his last 28 digs. It's not enough.

He's only once made more than the 62 he got in March 2018, and that was his 92 in 2010.

You rattle on about 50's on a select number of innings - fair enough. Let's give this some balance:

Of his last 11 Test innings The Kids been out for less than 22 runs just 3 times. 8 timed higher. For a (fanastic) keeper, those are some bloody reliable contributions.

You see glass half empty. Leysy doesn't. This test team would be *smile* without him.

Travis Head as Skipper Spook? He's VC remember. Cummins when likely to be rested? We've never had a bowler as skipper.

Cricket (as you know) is about partnerships. He put on 60 at a crucial time today. England went from $3.5 when he went in to $9 when dismissed. Yes it was an innings of substance.

Warne wrong as the norm. Remember he wanted Finch to captain this test tour.

Just find it amazing the knockers. Bats for 1.5 hrs and two posts within a minute of him getting out. Expect it from Toothless. He can't go on the horse thread anymore to rib leysy bahahahah!

Certainly don't want Head as skipper, that's why I say Paine's time is almost up, not totally up.

3 of his last 11 - also 3 of his last 6, cheeky! Btw, it's 3 50s in 30 innings since he's been back in the side. Some handy 30s and 40s. I used to make attractive 20s and 30s too, then get out, much to mine and my teammate's frustration. Played a few 'of substance' too, on soft greentops - 34* out of 78-all-out-type knocks. Would have liked to make a few more big scores, sure Tim would too. But yeah, hes steady. Just frustrated because he'd played well and got out softly, again. And the team was still 100 behind.

This is some fierce bowling from Archer. Top-shelf.
