Paine to see the series out, deserves that, but this will be his swan song. Alex Carey to play the home summer

Headingley will likely be low scoring but I'd say England probably go in favourites being as its Root and Bairstows home ground and I think Roy will play better on the quicker pitches, and obviously with Smith out that's a massive swing between the 2 sides. It will come down to which poor batting lineup manages to stick around for long enough. Over within 3 days IMO and Lyon won't get a chance to have much of an impact.

Hmmm not a bad prediction. Not quite what I wanted but there you are.

Was flicking between the footy and the cricket yesterday, fell asleep early (had a long week) and woke up seeing Archer batting. I thought it showed we had 167 and thought, well we are in it, and then realised that it was only 11 o'clock and we were 100 runs less.:oops::rolleyes:

And fragile too.

Root has done Australia a big favour by misusing Archer.
Archer missed the 1st test because of injury, and then on debut in the 2nd test he was used as a stock bowler after bowling like lightning. In the 1st innings he bowled 29 overs which was more than Woakes and Stokes combined, and then in the 2nd innings he bowled more overs than Broad, Woakes and Stokes combined.

He bowled well in the 1st innings of this test, but his pace was way down, and went off with severe cramp in the 2nd innings.
Well done Root you've cooked your strike bowler.
Archer looks cooked. Hardly getting to the wicket. I think he's broken.

It's great that Cummins is opening the bowling this Ashes series, he shouldn't been opening 2 years ago.

Labushagne is bowling ok, but he needs to bowl a bit slower and toss it up a bit, England 2/90 at tea.

The 20 mins of bowling before that wicket of Denly was some of the highest quality bowling by both Hazelwood and Lyon. Great test match cricket.

If you look at this wicket, neither sides’ tail has been able to make runs. Tricky seaming pitch finds the edge for part timers.

Runs have been hard enough for the top line batsmen.

That’s why I think we’re still good. Get root out and they’ll crumble.

I’m sorry, but Pattinson is not better than Starc. Never been a fan, tried to give him a chance, but he’s just no good.
