This is the bit I find bizarre. There is no better position to make an informed call on DRS. I believe the problem is that he is not strong enough with his bowlers. Whatever we're doing, it's not working. I read that Root uses input from 2-3 players before making the call.

DRS was the difference between the teams in the 3rd test.

... now there's something you would not have read in 1985.

No, keepers are notoriously poor judges IMO, they think everything is out. I don't think its as much to do with the bowlers, keepers are so used to appealing for everything I reckon it reduces their objectivity.
 
Oh, and gald to see Usman get dropped, he's been poor with the bat and in the field for too long. That screamer he took against India in Aust was obviously a complete fluke.

Isn't Smith still banned from the captaincy?
But I agree Paine has to go ... I'd have Cummins as captain.

I reckon the keeper is focused on too many things at once - not letting through byes being his number one priority.

I also think LBW is difficult from this position because you’re the only fielder who loses sight of the ball!

Captain should be at first slip and referring to the bowler for line and gully for length.
 
Australia won the toss and batted, 1/1 Warner nicked off trying to leave the ball. The Warner of old would've smashed it four, a shadow of his former self.
 
Geez I’m enjoying this. These 2 look like they enjoy batting together. Marnus looking very good.
 
Just realised they're chatting with Steve Waugh.....with grey hair, not black hair. Took me a while to realise.... :))
