Smith is the worlds leading run scorer for the calendar year..........................played his first test match for the year just over a month ago :clap2

Wade and Warner have to make way but for who? Not Bancroft or Khawaja. And definitely not Mitch Marsh. Harris too seems out of touch with English ball and conditions. The door opens up again for Pucovski, Burns , Renshaw, Patterson come this summer.

Good to see Timmy get a half ton but let’s face it , he should’ve been out twice before then having been dropped on 2 sodas.

Our top order relies on 2: Smith and Labuschagne.

For the first test against Pakistan:

Burns
Harris
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Pucovski
Carey
Cummins
Pattinson
Lyon
Hazelwood

Batting looks much better I reckon.

Prefer Wade to keep his spot than go back to Marsh, but something needs to happen with #6. It's the ideal spot for easing young batsmen into the team.

Ideally Smith would go to #3 as the team's best bat and should've done so two years ago, but #4 is working and he's the only thing standing between us and defeat. Smith going in at 1/0 and being out in the first half hour would expose the rest of the out-of-form lineup. Labuschagne seems to have a certain something and is making a decent fist of it so far, so carry on.

As an ordinary fielder who doesn't bowl, Harris' days must be numbered unless he hits paydirt soon.

Warner has 21 Test tons but nobody has an unlimited ticket.

Paine is struggling a bit but don't see any other obvious leadership candidates if Carey takes his place. Smith/Warner should be off the table, permanently. Safe from defeat in this Test; Paine needs to work through it.

Bowlers have performed much better than the last Ashes tour; we have the right mix.

Paine also has the third best average of all Aus keepers, only just behind Haddin and in front of Healy and Marsh.

Quoted for Truth.

Fantastic captains knock last night. 5/224 when came to the crease. England well in the game.

They weren’t went skip departed.

Let’s hope it’s overcast and Starc collects a bag tonight.

Yesterday was a big day but in cricket, it’s only counts if we back it up and not let the poms back into the game

Yeah but you gotta scratch the surface. Career average is 31.9, his average over the last 11 months is 22 and this series it’s 19 (and before yesterday he was averaging 12)
