A peripheral issue may be Dimma's relationship with the playing group. Kingy was on SEN recently and said that Dimma is so well liked by the players that it played a part in some deciding to stay at the club rather than explore Free Agency options. I'm not sure where Kingy gets his information but the players hold a lot of power at footy clubs these days.

Not sure Dimma's relationship with the playing group is a peripheral issue

Regardless if he gets one or two more years. Is there someone better?
If we got someone like Bolton or McCartney we are screwed.
He has improved us from a heap of sh!t to a competitive footy side. Give him more time.
Replace Chaplin and players of Edwards and Grigg. Then I see us being easily a top 3-4 team.

More time! Hardwicks had plenty of time already.
The verdict is in.He is not the coach to take us forward no matter how nice he is, or how popular with the players.

Won't be surprised when the RFC "brains trust" reappoint him coz they're not up to it either. Same as Hardwick.

We can rabbit on about membership numbers and balance sheets for ever. That won't win us games at the business end of the season.

spot on buddy dimma has had plenty of time to deliver , but did we get from dimma beaten in a finals game by a team that finished 9th carlscum , next year totally humiliated by port , next year beaten dork melb and out coached by brad scott ,when all the other smart teams rested players before the finals we showed our hand to north and they embarrassed us

And if he does ? Mr Houdini !

Perhaps as you say Hardwick was to be sacked by you now ( no point Continuing) if he can make finals and not win one right? .
Who is the , man ? to coach us ? Enlighten me .

I don't get this argument at all.

There are plenty of coaches out there building great experience within very good, professional programs.

Those calling for Dimma's head can't be expected to be recruiting gurus as well.

Well that's good business practice isn't it! Lets sack one of the most important people in the organisation, who is doing a good job, without knowing if there is anyone better in the market place.

I trust that Peggie and Benny have significantly more business acumen than that.

... yeah, that's their job. and my point.

So Carter why do you think the club has taken so long to re-sign him? This could have been put to bed months ago yet here we are.

Do you think the club is looking at other options or sounding prospective coaches out?

Reading lessons for every one !!
I'm a Hardwick fan !! My statement was to Houdini & company who say Hardwick wont win a final .

I think they've offered Hardwick a one year extension with a performance trigger and he hasn't accepted it.

Wouldn't be surprised if Dimma and admin are locked in a stand off.

Early wins will put pressure on club to cave on that performance trigger.

Hard to tell which way this will go. If there is steel in this club they will hold firm. It's a results business. A finals business.

Speculation only.

I can understand Dimma not wanting to accept it but waiting until the season is underway is counter productive to him. A few early losses and the pressure comes at a million miles an hour, and as history shows regardless of your coaching ability once the media start pushing an agenda then very few, if any, survive.

For the clubs sake i hope you are wrong. Terry Wallace's last year was a nightmare

Agreed.

We could've avoided all this by simply beating NMFC.

I'm not sure what you mean by "all this", but assume you mean pointless supporter speculation. I hope we have the substance to base important decisions on more than one single result.

Nah.

That result meant everything.

Club and sponsor confidence. Player and coach confidence.

If we had beaten Norf, the extension would've been a formality, signed long ago.

Now the club has a blowtorch to its knackers.

Something we have historically failed to handle.
