You think CD rank Edwards as an elite midfielder? or as an elite small forward? im guessing the latter, and im guessing it is because that is where he spends the majority of his time.
funnily enough 3 of our 4 CD 'elite' players are forwards. yet Hardwick doesnt like to put class in the forwardline?

No way Edwards spent more time in the forward 50 over the last two years.

I would hazard a guess that Sheds score involvements from midfield would be elite.

He releases others from congestion.

And as for your question, Dimma is on record as saying he'd put 21 men behind the ball if he could.

His notion of a forward line is quite different to the kind of side that regularly kicks over 100 points.

Hence the Morris and Newman stints. Petterd before that.

you think a guy who averages less than 20 possessions a game and about 3 clearances a game is an 'elite' mid?
i would almost guarantee is a considered a forward, or perhaps a forward/mid (if they have that category) by CD.

I'm saying he spent more time mid in 2014 and 2015.

Not fussed what CD classes him as.

Its not rage, believe me I am not angry. Didn't give it another thought all day. People who are obviously wrong, then try to manipulate discussions to pretend they are not annoy me, but it's more a mozzie buzzing in my ear annoying than rage. They annoy me because it's impossible to have a decent discussion with them because they are incapable of admitting they are wrong.

I suspect you are one of these people, you certainly demonstrate those traits.

What on earth are you talking about?

I haven't deviated one iota from my original statement.

QED

I'm only guessing but I'd say Champion Data might be looking at his clearance percentages when he plays midfield.

Also probably looking at his scoring chain involvements particularly at times when the game is on the line.

How many times in the last two seasons has Shed pounced on a ball and made the breakaway play when the game is in the balance.

FWIW if I could only chose between Dusty and Shed for the last spot in the team, I'd pick Edwards (and I really really like Dusty)

Dimma's NAB cup musings or Champion Data's average and below average team?

Hunt Chaplin Elton
Morris Grimes Batchelor
BEllis Townsend Grigg
Kmac Griff Lambert
Lennon Mckenzie Astbury
Hampson Conca A Moore

Sounds like nitpicking to me but I respect your position ;D
Ok.

I am very interested in how the forward like shapes up but not just the forward line. I have stated around draft time that I expect our best 22 to change a lot in the next 2 seasons as the class of 2014 and 2015 matures. Time will tell I guess.

Big call lamby but I wouldn't say wrong. Before he had the broken leg in the middle of the year he was absolutely flying and would have been near the first picked. Hopefully Shed can rediscover that form again.

Agree TOO!

Why the rush?
Will it be a 1 year extension till 2017?

I would have liked them to wait mid year.

Can't picture it being for a single year...

Why not K3?

Bucks got a 1 year or rumoured he requested only a year.

Dimma gets a 1 year , so will have 2 years to do something. If not after 2017, I'm afraid that's it!

Wouldn't rush and give 2 years. Why?

I want him to succeed and be the one but he will have this year, which is no guarantee of finals and if we fail he has 2017. If he fails this year and next why then be paying out another coach with a year to run.

1 year is all u would give. This isn't a Northey scenario. Dimma hasn't won a final yet in three attempts. Good block and all but nice bloke ain't winning us a final, with another bad day at the office against North.

Anyway we are speculating. We will know soon!

Hey Waiting,

Wasn't saying I would give him more, more that with Benny and Peggy's MO, I can't see them only giving him one.

Hmmm... maybe because one took a Premiership team backwards to the point where they have missed the finals two years in a row. His club has done a tremendous job of recruiting quality players into the team to the point where the general consensus is that anything less than a return to finals would be unmitigated failure. Then again the President loves him, the fans love him so even though his performance has been average they are still prepared to extend his contract.

Whereas Dimma took a basket case of a list and rebuilt it, during an era of compromised drafts due to the inclusion of the Gold Coast and GWS, to the point where they have played finals for the past three years. The list isn't a top 4 list as whilst the RFC has done OK through the draft it has failed miserably to attract young talent to the club.

Only one of these two has earnt a contract extension of 2 years and it isn't Buckley.

A peripheral issue may be Dimma's relationship with the playing group. Kingy was on SEN recently and said that Dimma is so well liked by the players that it played a part in some deciding to stay at the club rather than explore Free Agency options. I'm not sure where Kingy gets his information but the players hold a lot of power at footy clubs these days.

Regardless if he gets one or two more years. Is there someone better?
If we got someone like Bolton or McCartney we are screwed.
He has improved us from a heap of *smile* to a competitive footy side. Give him more time.
Replace Chaplin and players of Edwards and Grigg. Then I see us being easily a top 3-4 team.
