Essendon = Entitlement

"The whole thing unsettled so many players, families ... there is still no evidence of any performance-enhancing drug being taken, and a lot of players and a lot of careers have been ruined," Corcoran said.

This line always makes me laugh.

There was no evidence because either:

a. You binned it when Demetriou gave the heads up; or
b. You were running an operation that deliberately was off the books to avoid having a paper trail.

The drugs thing screwed them for a decade, great to see Sheeds and Corcoran want to keep that run going

Yep. Still eats away at them and they still refuse to knowledge what they did was wrong.
Loving it. Hope they continue to fail for many years to come

Yep, they destroyed the paper trail that could've proved their innocence or not.

Shut up & get on with it or continue to fail.

Either way just shut up everyone's sick of their whingeing

best thing Essendon can do is move on from this

but they can't

the latest comments only prove it

The AFL should come out and clearly remind Sheeds and Robbo that WADA nailed the Club to the cross. For doing things like writing a $60k Chq for a banned substance called Hexarelen (‘that they didn’t use, don’t know where the drugs went and don’t know if they were delivered - so what is the problem?) and for the players having Thymosine injected into them. Thymomodulin that they pretended they were administered (though they don’t know cos they can’t be sure about anything) is taken in tablet form. But then. They don’t know what they got but whatever they got (which was all good though) Sheeds and co believe was nothing more than gummy bears and smarties. Also for clearly telling the players that it was a top secret program, that they couldn’t disclose, as it was cutting edge and ‘pushing the boundaries’. Also - “you players sign this form here exonerating the Club. But don’t tell anyone about the form either”.

Sheedy is a current board member at Essendon. WTF is he doing gobbing off again???? Don’t they have ANY controls over there?

The AFL need to have a chat to Essendon and let them know if they keep this up, they will be banned from the draft AGAIN And EVERY year they try and resurrect this tired topic (that they were found guilty of) until they GET THE MESSAGE!.

WTF? They were found guilty by the international body.

Corcoran doesn't actually say they are innocent, he says 'you can't prove anything' (they did), and that 'some mistakes were made'. Circumstantial evidence is a thing, there was a mountain of it, and it was acknowledged, people get jailed for life on the basis of circumstantial evidence.

Its crazy, but if this was old man Sheedy throwing a few granades from his fireside retirement, you could understand it, but he is back at the club! The club obviously think this is the best way forward. WTF?

This really underlines the need for an external review rather than yet another internal review. An external review would be doing the opposite of this, acknowledge and move on, not deny and double down.

The irony of wanting the AFL to apologise does my head in, yes the AFL stuffed this up, but not for the reasons Essendon think. They bullied and denied and obfuscated to ASADA to build a firewall between international ASADA and their little single nation comp to protect Essendon because they were good aussie blokes and not eastern European or Chinese drug cheats. Yes they were deluded and corrupt in doing so, but if they hadn't, ASADA probably would have come down even harder!

Compare with the Cronulla Sharks in the NRL - put their hands up, admitted what they did, accepted 6 month backdated bans, moved on as a club.

Until they completely exorcise the whole saga and move on, they will never be a force. They are completely deluded, and having old man Sheedy on the board and conducting a review, while picking at old wounds is truly laugh out loud stuff.

They are a basket case, and truly a laughing stock...way worse than we ever were in the dark old days.

It IS the gift that keeps on giving.

Yep, the Sharks took their medicine (pardon the pun), copped the penalty and went on to win the Premiership a few years later.

Part of me agrees, they stink. But a bigger art of me hates this. Having such a sick and deluded club taints the whole comp. I'm not sure what can be done about it. In a perfect world the AFL would have a strong board with a lot of integrity who take the lead, Peggy-types, but they are a long way from that.

I was reading a Paddy Ryder interview a few weeks ago. Pretty damning. He wanted out after the scandal, worried about the effect of drugs on his baby, they wouldn't release him, he said he'd spill, they released him. That wasn't in the interview but is on the record. What was in the interview was that when he left Port he intended to return to Essendon. Toured Tullamarine and canned that idea, implied it still stank.

Completely deluded club.

Whats hard to understand. All professional (and amateur when looking at International competitions), require you to PROVE what you have taken. Its pretty simple, want to compete in these sports, these are the rules. Simple way to avoid this, drop out of the AFL if you don't want to abide by the rules that everyone else does.

Yep they are like the Trump supporter who still thinks the election was rigged and the republicans actually won. The cognitive dissonance is impressive.

Bingo. It’s Richmond in the 80’s & 90’s stuff. Focused on yesterday, blaming everyone else, old hero’s.

So far behind the times.

Whilst I broadly agree with everything Sheedy said, fact is it does them no good at all now.

I understand a lot of people would find it difficult when they feel wronged, but the only way forward is to let the past be the past.

Meh. It’s just another Sheeds smokescreen to divert attention away from their pathetic performances over a countless number of years.

Classic Sheedy. Ignore.

Can't believe the commentary coming out of that place, football is a massive industry, they are meant to be a professional organisation. What sort of board endorses this sort of behaviour?
