As someone pointed out though, we are still reigning premiers in 2 states

Goodwin needs to lift his game. I didn’t hear him mention Mrs Goodwin onceStepping back you really see how much they have focused on us and how to replicate what we did.
The whole - Melbourne man thing
Woman president
Pressure ball - they were 17th for disposal efficiency this season
Rest of squad running on in their shirts
Even Petracca hiding the Norm Smith
Should I feel proud that they have copied us? Maybe
Do I feel proud, not really but I do want to smash the *smile* out of these dicks next year at the G
They make the most of what they have, like all good teams.Let me list a few players
Petty
Bowey
Rivers
Spargo
Sparrow
McDonald
Brown
Hibberd
Harmes
Neil-Bullen
All played their role but they are not superstars. I’m not saying they aren’t decent players but they are also not massively better than the bottom 10 in a number of other teams. ( I am sure some will question my list)
Melbourne were great this season and awesome last night but they are far from unbeatable
Nice obs. Definitely helps to have a good run with injury. They make the most of what they have, like all good teams.
Midfield rotations? What midfield rotations? They use one of the two ruckmen, Petracca, Oliver and Viney in the guts. Harmes occasionally tags someone, Neal-Bullen plays the Lambert role and allows Petracca to go forward and that is it. Brayshaw plays wing, Jones was dropped and left out, Jordan played early in the season as an inside mid but he is out of the team now.
They have a very rigid structure, within the constraints of the modern game which demands all players run up and down the ground all day. Their defenders always defend and stay behind the ball. Salem is always the running outlet from defence, the forwards are always forward and presenting as targets.
And all of the best players play “on the ball” all day. Just like in Under 12s.
Congratulations to them. They have turned Gawn, Petracca and Oliver into some of the fittest players in the competition. That is seriously smart work.
and the Dogs.

1. Saints 55 years

4. Adelaide 23
5. lolnorf 22
6. Bummers 21
*smile* StkildaPerhaps wouldn’t begrudge the saints getting one but can’t see it happening anytime soon, otherwise happy for the numbers on that list to keep growing.
That is a good point tottie. Oliver and Petracca must have had high TOG. Almost a return to playing your best players in the most important positions for as long as possible. They make the most of what they have, like all good teams.

I think the extra pick was for Frawley leaving. It was a rort for sure. Typical AFL manufactured outcome.Did Melbourne get a compo pick?View attachment 13680
It increases with us because we have proven the draft is our Achilles heal. Some crap in that top 10. Hope we don't blow it.
They got pick 3 for Frawley and we get pick 36 for EllisI think the extra pick was for Frawley leaving. It was a rort for sure. Typical AFL manufactured outcome.
