Very harsh on Sipthorpe Shawry.

Sipthorpe is 18 and doing his VCE (still at high school). He was drafted with an eye to the future - he is a kid after all and a growing one at that. The club did not expect him to play this year. Look to 2004 for him to come into play

You would think though Lil that if he had any future, talent or potential to star at AFL level then he would at least be doing something useful for the Coburg reserves. From what i have seen by looking through scores in herald Sun he hasnt doen much at all. A future AFL player should star at Coburg reserves. He is not thus i see no future for him at Richmond. MAybe harsh a bit but i would have thought he should star at that level if he had any future at all.

Having said that i hope i am wrong and if they do persist with him he does somethign useful for us and perhaps be a part of some premiership sides. Yeah that would be nice.

Valid arguement Shawry if we are talking about a more experienced player.

Firstly, to make it into the best players in the Coburg reserves you need to be playing in the Coburg reserves. Sipthorpe has not played every game for the Coburg reserves. He was injured earlier in the year (I think he popped a shoulder but will stand corrected on that).

I have seen him play once and I liked what I saw. His disposal and reading of the play is first rate. Long term I think he will make it. Certainly needs to bulk up a bit. He's good on the track and eager to learn.

Besides if we as a Club are prepared to give the likes of Pettifer, Mills and to lesser degree Hyde, 3 to 4 seasons to try and establish themselves I think Sipthorpe is entitled to at least see out his contract which ends next year

Lil i cant argue with any of that. As long as he has shown improvement during the year i am willing to listen. Was unaware he had an injury which may explain why i have not seen much fo him in paper.

You ahve seen him live, i have not, i cannot argue with your thoughts on him. I hope you are right.

Agree if hes got a two year contract and does show glimpses of potential then he is worthy of being kept.
