Haha. I do like how Dimma credits his assistants. Being a head coach is bigger than coming up with ideas on game day in 2019.
He also credited Leppa for the Edwards move down back.

On the subject of assistants. It was interesting (good) to see Kingsley give Caddy a bake last night. Wasn't holding back. Don't think I've seen an assistant fire up like that. Made Rocket Eade look like the Dalai Lama

Agree, it was solid. Made a difference too. Caddy was coasting until then

Didn't see the bake. Anyone a lip reader?

Yeah I did lip-reading for 10 years.

He said 'for *smile* sake Cads, which part of stop Fyfe didn't you *smile* understand? {speaker turns inaudible} sake. Just stick on him, goal side. *smile* cads. {speaker turns inaudible} *smile* rocket surgery. stop him'

This just demonstrates again what I/we/players like about him. He gives credit to others; doesn't seek attention selfishly. He shows humility and humour, doesn't much blame, sook or whinge. [Shows incredible restraint re the umpiring!!]

Respected all through the AFL world now.

Yep wel said, agree!

Hardwick on AFL360 last night finally admitting publicly that Richmond peaked too early in 2018.
Winning pre-season games by >10 goals, peaking late July, treading water in August and then spent by mid September was not the Bart Cummings-style preparation that was required last year.
Man management has never been one of Dimma's strong suits, with a propensity to continue to play the same core players when overly sore, just like he used to do in the old days (this years Exhibit A is Daniel Rioli post the GWS and Bulldogs games).
Missing a genuine opportunity to go back to back is a very hard way to learn a lesson - for fans more so.
This year, injuries have forced Hardwick's hand somewhat, in terms of compulsory player rotations.
One could also argue that the relentless grind of the past few years - playing our (older) players week in week out despite injuries / soreness and not giving them the occasional well deserved week off with "general soreness" - has taken its toll with more soft tissue injuries.
Hopefully, now he is being forced to be more conservative with Cotch, has sensibly rested Dustin last week, and Stack the week before, we are seeing Hardwick's man management maturing into a smarter and well overdue version that will help us peak late September.

So, when it's good it's all Balme and Blake, when it's bad it's Dimma

What a load of rubbish.
One thing Hardwick can’t be criticised for is man management.

I thought man-management was about motivation and psychology, building a relationship with players. Whether players are sore, need a break, have managed loads, or are rested is down to the fitness guys.

Before the season started and well before we had any injuries Hardwick stated they had learnt from last year and the training for the season will be structured towards building through the season to be hitting top form late in the season.

So he didn't "finally" admit it last night nor was he forced to do this by the injuries.
