I've heard that Richmond has asked Leon Cameron to consider going another year.

Cameron has been playing with some injury for the second half of the year.

I personally believe Cameron should go one more year. He has great foot skills, hits the target and has a great footy brain.

Cameron should be taking the kick ins. This is one area we have fallen done on recent times.

Alot of people are bagging Cameron, however, he is a real goer and gives his all. One of the rare players that makes every posession count.

Don't recall anyone here bagging Leon. Leon has been a top player full of class and skill but sadly age is catching up with him and he can't spend large amounts of time on the field. Mostly played in spurts off the bench or as a pinchhitter up forward as it is now. IMV going on one more year would be one year too many. He should finish up a great footy career in two weeks time.

Agree MT

Leon has been great for us since crossing from the Doggies, and was one of the main reasons for our good year in 2001, but this year has shown that he is struggling to keep up with the pace of the game. One of his best assets was the fact he always looked to have time to use the ball, but he has lost that this season.

Leon bagged?? Like Mariah Carey's movie "Glitter" Haven't seen it and wouldn't want to!!
Leon has been great for the Club, A real sharpshooter. But he will have to be fit and have the fire in the belly if he is to continue next year. ???

Leon is a champ and a leader and sets an example to others especialyl te younger ones about how to go about leadership. Absolute champion, hope he does continue and help the young blokes out especially.

I'd be delighted to see Leon get one more year. He's obviously not the player they are going to build a team around but his work ethic, leadership, skills and experience make him one hell of an asset. Put him on a base wage with match payments and incentives and even if he only plays half the season in the 1s his contribution to the football culture is inestimable.

Leon Cameron will retire at the end of the season and so he should. He has been a great player for us and the Dogs but his body is no longer capable of playing 100 minutes of football. Hence the fact that he spends half the time on the bench and only plays 50-60 minutes per game. Thanks Leon (and Duncan) but it's time.

I would klike to see Leon involved in the club in his retirement perhaps as a skills coach. As a player he has great skills, is well respected by the players and we DESPERATELY need someone to teach the duds how to kick a footy.

If we are to seriously rebuild our list, then players like Rogers, Cameron and DK must do the right thing and retire now. Let's face it, we know now that they won't be in our next premiership side, so let's clear them out and start again.

What is the nature of Leon's injury? We were told he was playing injured last season too. Is it the same injury?
Is it bad enough to affect his form over a prolonged period?
That would have to be a massive influence towards Leon's decision whether to play on or not.
He's an honest person who I'm sure will put the clubs interests first.

That you can be assured of Rosy.

As for the injury - I know he has had a calf problem and I think has also been troubled by a knee.

The Boss: I agree if he does retire (and the final decision will be his) a job as an assistance beckons. And some how I don't think they will let him leave - they certainly do want him involved.

From what I have seen he has future coach written all over

Agree Dean. Holding on to these players for one more year would be for all the wrong reasons, imo. By doing so, we are only holding others back, instead of helping them to take the next step.

Because I think it only reinforces to the younger players that they are incapable of being responsible for themselves. Sure they need guidance, but I think they would get a lot more confidence by having faith show in them, than by any other means.

I would rather see the Club put faith in the young players and give them the confidence to know that they can and will be the leaders of the future.

Instead of molly coddling players and holding their hands, I'd like to see them encouraged, promoted properly and given some responsibility. Responsibility that some of them are more than capable of handling.

But we can't clean out everyone in one year.

Maybe Leon Cameron is someone that can fill a void for another year. If he does have a calf, they are a pr!ck of an injury to recover from. Very easy to damage again.

Agree with Koalalill about the kick ins. Tiva virtually didn't miss a target for 6 weeks upto the Fremantle game. Since then and including that game, there have been some ill winds blowing.

EXACTLY!

We all know the huge list of duds we have and mostly we agree on who has to go. As has been said also we probably only have 4 or 5 tradeables. This means if Dunc and Cameron retire some of the duds we so desperately want to go, will have to stay one more year!
I'd rather have Dunc and Cameron on the list than Pettifer and Nicholls/Mills and the like.

Leon is a natural footballer and a dam good one at that.
He has the respect of all the players' at the club and would be an amazing skills coach. I'd almost go as far as saying he bleeds Yellow and Black. With the rite pre season training program he could go another year easily. I rekkon that the whole "too old thing" is a crock of s*** If you have a real talent for the game as he does you should be able to play until your at least 32 (injuries permitting)
We won't have a team of champions in 04 so lets lose the pettifers, bowdens, rogers, hoolihans, kings,
biddiscombes, nicholls etc and go from there.
Some people deserve loyalty and some the truth.
Give the boy from Warnambool another run.
Leon Cameron,as the club stands at the moment Is an assett both on and off the field and would already be a better coach than Frawley.

I agree with most that has been said on here. If the club has asked him to continue it is probably because they realise that it is going to be very difficult to fill the list next year with all the other Duds that have to go.

Leon certainly has something to offer and could be used up forward effectively and could probably turn into a 30-40 goal a year specialist forward.

If he does retire I reckon he would make a great skills coach and could also take on a player development role and just maybe then we could actually develop some of our young talent. He has a smart football brain and speaks very impressively so surely we can put that to good use.

Couldn't do any worse than a couple of people that are sitting in the coaches box at the moment.
