Meh, I think Malthouse might be a bit of a tosser. There are quite a number of indications of that, like the testiness and the ego behind that in press conferences - okay maybe he just didn't like press conferences, but compare him with Buckley, who comes across as a decent guy, even with an ego of his own.
The defining moment for me was in that story on Malthouse on...60 Minutes was it? Can't remember, but it was a long one. Anyway there we are, in the Malthouse home, at the dining table, and there's this MASSIVE portrait of Mick, hanging on the wall, SUPER PROMINENT. Now personally, I thought it was a very cheesy piece of work, but that's not the point. You had to think, THIS is where the family sit down to eat on a regular basis (presumably)? I mean honestly, I don't give a toss who you are, I don't want to be staring up at some glorified 'portrait' of Dad or Grandpa or Hubby or whatever, while trying to navigate through my meal. It could be Muhammad Ali even - forget it. But Mick was sitting there, saying how much he liked it.
I'm glad we never had him as coach, in any event. I don't begrudge him his success in life, but I just think he lacks real quality in certain respects.
