How did Toby Green get away with that sling tackle????

The Suns player was alright and got up straight away but he was slung to the ground and his head did hit the ground.

This.

The Suns player immediately remonstrated with Green. He, like everyone else, knew it was a chicken wing. Everyone except Christian that is.

The AFL appears to be changing the rules again. Next week the ground will be sacrosanct and we will be talking about how lucky that Suns player was to not get done for head butting the turf.

I am sure if it was a Richmond player they would have been suspended for the tackle.

The umps and MRP can't resist getting the AFL holiday fund topped up by the Tigers almost on a weekly basis. I wonder whose turn it will be next week
The afl are going to improve their efficiency from this week. They are going to install eftpos terminals at the entrance to every Richmond change room. All the players have to do then is just tap and go as they enter and the afl can just deduct when they work out how much their coffers are low by

Nah, already sorted mate. Direct debit garnished from their pay. 4 weeks paid upfront kept in escrow.

WTF Finlayson suspended for 3 games

Absolutely, he deserved more than that. When Tex Walker gets 6 weeks for racism it really puts things into perspective.

Can't say those sorts of things anymore. Disgraceful behaviour.

No wonder there's been zero AFL players publicly come out as gay. Football clubs remain bastions of homophobia.

The afl stated that if it wasn’t for his “full and frank admission” his penalty would have been greater than 3 weeks.
He also has to pay for his own education through “Pride in Sport”

Why didn’t they fine him the maximum financial penalty, deregister him, and ban him for life.
afl, the social consciousness of society. But get some drugs in, just say you’re injured.

It's a bloody ordinary comment in this day & age. Deserved his whack & then some.
Like Tex being branded a racist, Finlayson will now be known for his homophobia.
That is a greater punishment than the number of games you miss.

Is Koschy going to attend the education process with Finlayson as well seeing he publicly expressed his opinion that it wasn't so bad given it was in the heat of the moment.

I see he has backflipped in accepting penalty today.

Penalty should have come with a hefty fine as well IMO.

Well he was always going to come out and try to get a softer penalty. Even if privately he thought differently. But who knows with him.
Maybe he should go along for his own education.

Im sure all players attend some sort of anti vilification program at some stage. But I’m not sure if they all go through it each year or just the 1st year players. Or how often they have a refresher on racial, sexual vilification! drugs and gambling.
I’ve no idea how who even runs them, whether it’s the an afl department or whether it’s outsourced.

No issues here.

But why does he get 3 weeks and Alastair Clarkson only get a little slap on the wrist for the same thing in a preseason game.

Consistency for God’s sake.

Furthermore, they have come out and said the penalty would have been much harsher if he hadn’t self reported! Well as far as I know, the AFL wouldn’t have even known about it if he hadn’t self reported.

But all is good in the world. After all, chicken wing tackles are ok again.

AFL is pathetic.

Because Laura Kane is completely out of her depth.

It shows how dysfunctional the AFL is as apparently a world class sporting competition, in that they *smile* Benny Gale over in the charade that was always going to be Dillons job.

Then they plead with him to be 2nd banana...... basically the fall guy for the shìt show they run..... and he was too smart for it, so they parachute Kane into a watered down role to what Gale would have had!

Probably would have shut his mouth n said nuffin if Clarko had copped a couple of weeks in pre season instead of a pretend penalty. Sounds like a harsh whack just for an explosive moment of abuse, but it can't be done anymore, especially when there's already been a warning shot fired a few weeks ago.
AFLHQ didn't do themselves any favours or fool anyone regarding their integrity when it comes to brand protecting n arse covering. Pathetic mob went soft on serial offender Clarko n had no option but to tweak Finlayson's goolies. Pity that Kotchy won't cop anything for his total non comprehension of the effect of homophobic slurs when there's a portion of Port's womens team and the coach are gay.
