Do the healthy vegetarian walkers/cyclists carrot juice drinkers realise that they actually cause more global warming than the smokers driving to work in their cars?

Then lemme give you a lesson in global warming.

1) The largest contributor to global warming is the growth in the human population.
2) People who keep fit live up to 10 years longer than the smokers in their cars.
3) 10 years of extra living requires huge amounts of the earths resources to keep you alive
4) Over 10 years you exhale many millions of tonnes of CO2 just by breathing.

So - although I'm a non smoker - I think the meat eating V8 smokers are actually doing the earth a favour by dying young. It's the other mob who selfishly try and extend their life and in the process are killing the earth and its atmosphere.

Have a nice day ;) ;)
I've got 2, 4-cylinder cars, does that count the same? ;D

Yeah, that one I find alot more interesting than the smoking ban.(probably should've started a seperate thread.)Both sides of government always unite on matters like this.
A few years ago I was discussing with a couple of libertine friends what would be the next abstract noun western governments might employ to increase the grip on the populace.
We'd had the 'war on drugs', 'war on tax cheats' and more recently the 'war on terrorism'
Our betting was on the final bastion of true freedom, the internet. The 'war on porn' would be inevitable.Sure enough here it is begining.
It'll be interesting to see what other 'dangers' people will need protecting against in regards to the internet in the future. This seems to me like an extremely slippery slope the government has embarked on.

How is the government regulating what people can look at on the internet any different to China or Iran regulating what their citizens can look at?

The smoking in the car law is a bit of an odd one.

Should we make it illegal to smoke in the toilet with your children, too? ;D

Seems to me that if smoking in cars is legal, so be it. So need for preposterously tokenistic laws to protect children.

What if you live in a caravan? Should it be illegal to smoke in there with your children but legal when they turn... 18, 21, 70?

It just stinks of save the children bs. Mantras and hysterical crap.

And given the proposed move to internet censorship is likely to be ineffective, what's it really about? More save the children bs? Should we legislate to make it illegal to view the internet without the supervision of a qualified adult? Where does legislation end?

It all stinks of PR and tokenism. Intrusive at that. Death to all I say. Especially the children. >:D

That's the stuff, Liverpool. It reeks of hysteria and showy Ameddican morality.

I can see that it's unhealthy to smoke in a car with children or anybody else in it. But illegal? They demonise tobacco to take the heat off all the other stuff that's going down.

If it's illegal to smoke in a car with children in it how big a room should you be in before it's illegal to smoke with children present? Why isn't the law consistent? Because it's about showiness not effectiveness IMO.

Why not just ban tobacco? It's harmful to everyone. Or better still, campaign against smoking in cars.

As for the internet filtering, it's a great way to keep track of addresses that aren't toeing the line, eh? Not that that will ever happen.

OTOH I can see some very funny/embarrassing situations arising because of it. Some geezer says to his missus "I need to have my own ISP for my own computer darling because I need to research, um, you know, bad language, for the glossary of swear words I'm building... for my thesis, you know, for my MBA, that I'm going to start next year or so. On bad language in th workplace as an OH&S risk. You know it causes ear cancer. So I need to work on it now." "Fine darling I'll use it too because I need to download porno." "Sure. If that's what you're into."

And finally, kill all the children. >:D

:hihi

The only time my kids smoke is when their mother throws the kitchen fire blanket on em. After I've lit em.

BTW I reckon kids are over-rated. (They should be fire rated.) >:D

I don't really see the irony stoney cos I don't get your point. Is it the weight of someone, what people eat, the smog, the lycra, the bicycles or the conversation?

You come across as somewhat excessweightophobic. People criticising smoking aren't making personal, physical criticism on another person and as has been pointed out medical conditions and various reasons can affect a person's weight. I don't think anyone is telling you not to smoke but they might request you don't smoke in their house or in a car with their kids. I doubt they'd care what you eat or how much you weigh because that doesn't affect them personally or put their health at risk.

I ride my bike on peaceful country roads.
sorry bout the delay rosey but ive been a shiftin camp...however you are wrong, people critisising smokers now are the same moralistic dogooders who will be attacking fat people when smokers are outlawed.90% of smokers go out of their way to ensure that the LEGAL product they consume doesnt affect those around.as for the time honoured "passive smoke",it is a load of *smile*.if passive smoke was such an issue how are so many baby boomers still fit and healthy? they grew up in a generation where every body smoked any where? . i never claimed that anyone was telling me not to smoke. as for the irony? its the fact that while the fat barstards will continue to consume, and be a burden on the public tit,the fat pricks that dont smoke will continue to lecture us that do with no regard or self examination,as will the morons that think by riding 4 abreast down beach rd sucking in god knows what heavy toxins from the exhausts of trucks and cars .and there is where the irony lays........... if you cant see it maybe you ,as i asked earlier look up what exactly a catilitiyc converter contains ,and at what temp it actually starts to "work"..

Hey SS Tone, how you been travelling? On the move I see! Hope it all went well.

Do you worry that your legal product is becoming less legal? ie. more and more restrictions place on when and where and how you can smoke?

thanks mazda, its all running on time.its not my legal product that i fear for,its the social restrictions placed upon every one because some little elected *smile* wants to "save" everyone.the world we live in today is so over regulated because no one and i mean no one will take responsabilty for ones self.why are bilionaires are allowed to smoke at crown? why is it only the peasants denied? why are prisoners in jails allowed to smoke in the gaurds workplace and no one else is? why in a democratic state is it allright to ban a legal product in public places whilist the nazis take dollar after dollar in tax? have a chat to mrs stone oneday about how the t.a.b she managed dropped $30.000 + a WEEK and hasnt recovered? and then ask her about the body hygine habits she was inflicted to this summer?as the song goes mate "if you tolerate this, then your children will be next"
