Noah Balta

You doth protest too much, methinks.

@taztiger4 is the only bloke in here who knows how to spell gaol.

My POV? I hate what Noah appears to have done on the footage, and it seems context is pretty unimportant.

But anyone else would still go to work, and so should he i reckon.

And i can understand the different POV's

Personally I don't think he should be playing until sentencing is handed down. And leaning towards delisting him. Just my opinion.

Whilst a serious incident , would the same sudden outrage be jinned up if Noah Balta was Jordan De Goey , James Sicily, or Dane Zorko or for any Geelong player

Hed be picked up by Collingwood 5 seconds later.

No need to execute the bloke, he's publicly shamed himsel his family and the RFC f by committing a stupid and reckless act and is going to probably get a criminal conviction and record even if he avoids a jail term which will last with him for the rest of his life on record.

Why so much hyperbole against Richmond players when they F Up as compared to players from other more AFL favoured clubs (Gee, Coll, Haw, Syd).

The AFL are reveling in unleashing their media attack dogs with the narratives they want them to run.

Tigers are officially public enemy #1 of the AFL.

Delisting him, crikey, that's very harsh. The guy made a mistake & is paying the price for it. The AFL sanctioned his punishment, that's enough for me.
Tell me truthfully, have you ever done something you regret. I know I have.
Time for us to move on.

Complete and utter farce from the Judge, who obviously hadn't bothered to do their homework regarding the case.
Court room open n staff in attendance.
Judge in the chair presiding.
Prosecutors there n all set to go.
Victim n legals, or at the least just the legals there.
Defendant there with his legal team n the guilty plea has already been submitted.
All character references and proofs of defendant contrition and behavioural courses submitted.
All the work is already done except for the Judge can't be *smile* getting off their arse n passing sentence.

Massive waste of time n resources for all involved except for one entitled lazy arse prick.
If you want to see utter incompetence take a look at how the WA Police have handled the Marlion Pickett case. Repeat adjournments and now they're offering him a plea bargain after dragging his name through the mud for two years. The maj in that case scolded the police and told them to get their act together and bring the matter to a conclusion as Marlion is being denied natural justice.

I wonder if or how much that lack of resolution played on Marlions decision to retire rather than go on one more year.

A bloke Richmond fan on Ch 9 news WA tonight whose son was killed by a coward punch wants to hang draw & quarter Balta. Balta's got a lot to answer for which will be played out in court but he is entitled to earn a quid until then. Just because he is a public figure he has to have the same rights as a non public figure.

Agree he shouldn't be playing.
But delist??
We shouldn't have sign him up because he wouldve been a free agent and in the open market he would commanded a 'Mckay' type compensation.
We couldve had our pick 2, north's pick 6 and the compo pick pick 3

Club gave him a 6 game suspension (2 games from the pre-season).

He has served that now.

Not sure why we need to now debate on whether they play him.

The only question is if his is fit to play.

I would be disappointed with the club if they bend to media pressure and go against this.
The point that has been missed is that the judge differed to make a decision during the original hearing and set another hearing date that happened to be 2 weeks after the 4 game suspension finished.
If the judge had made his decision and the case was settled 2 weeks ago and he wasn’t incarcerated, would anyone be questioning why he would be playing this round?
So it’s all about optics to the media. Not that the suspension was inadequate.
So why should his suspension now be extended?

I have never had to plead guilty to a criminal charge of assault. So can't say I can relate to his position.

Pretty normal to dismiss someone for screwing up. In the mines we sack someone for failing a daily mandatory alcohol breath test.

Just expressing my opinion. While respecting others opinions.

I agree, he shouldn't.
The argument that he should be out until he's sentenced is ridiculous. What if it wasn't 2 weeks but 2 months before sentencing.

The time is irrelevant.
If his sentencing was in 2 months
I wouldn't want him playing for 2 months.
He shouldve thought about it before punching a bloke while he was on ground.
Disgrace.

Didn’t see you complaining when Pickett continued to play before his trial.
We understand you don’t rate Balta.

There is another aspect here. Those calling for Balta to be delisted or a further suspension are ignoring double jeopardy. He is being tried and will be sentenced for the offence by the courts, this is the appropriate place to do this. The suspension is an indirect punishment which would be related to AFL rules and his contract conditions. To delist or extend the suspension on the basis of what he did would be to try him twice for the same offence.
