Noah Balta

Blight is catching up quick. Noah will wanna play well.
Blight hasn't done a lot wrong & doesn't deserve to be left out.
However Noah's best is better than Blight's (so far at least).
The question is ultimately whether Noah currently is a better option given his situation. He wasn't great last year that's for sure.
I'll leave that decision to the footy dept. but do think it's awesome that Blight has given them plenty to think about.
The competition is healthy & will hopefully push Balta to the heights we've hoped he'd attain. If he doesn't we've found a good backup.
interesting to see how it plays out.

Just my 5c, but investing in Balta with AFL selection now is the right thing for the club to do. It's made comment publicly and often that Balta has been remorseful, has doubled down his work ethic and that we have no intention of lengthening his ban (assuming that's via consultation with the AFL too). We've got a long-term contract in place with the player and showing confidence in that can bear a strong return in time.

And Balta is pretty clearly a best 23 player too.

I also don't see a need for Blight to be sacrificed. I'd reckon it's Bauer who makes room for Blight in the forward line, with good stints in the ruck to support Nank.

Did you read this - the bloody anti-Richmond media are stirring the tiger pot.

Agree. Have they forgotten what Barry Hall did? Knocked out a bloke unconscious and was only out 6 weeks.

I really don't get the debate on this, bring him back as long as he feels ready to go.
He's plead guilty & awaiting sentencing, I'm sure plenty of people go about their jobs during this time.
If the sentencing got pushed back a year should he sit out a year? The crime isn't going to change, everyone knows what he did.
Why should he have to wait longer than the ticked off club sanction due to a slow system.

Imo with Blight going forward there is a spot for a key defender.

Atm i would prefer we give Gray an opportunity and Noah can get up to speed in the ressies.

Tom Stewart is a *smile*.

IMO Fritsch should have got BOG not fined for tunnelling that sniping prick. Alas it didn't result in a significant injury.

Boys club Hird Cornes etc etc. Gibber on week after week & anyone who takes it onboard must be defienct in common dog.

If yze doesn’t pick Balta to go to Adelaide then it would be a bit unfair to the academy kids to unleash him against them.

Which means he probably plays his first game round 5 vfl against Frankston

I would have hoped that Balta was on a more intensive training regime over the last month that made allowance for the fact that he wasn’t playing games

In other words the fitness staff would have given him extra workload - using all the GPS data etc - to try and simulate match day demands

Gotta say I’d be picking him to go straight into the ones this weekend at Full back.
Miller takes the next key defender
Blight can be second ruck and play forward like last game

Looking forward to his immediate return to the senior side straightening us up considerably. What a spine we have when all fit. Gibbcus in as well would result in almost all our back 6 able to match up on smalls and talls giving us the best of flexibility

I see no reason why Balta should sit out more weeks because the magistrate could not make up their mind on a sentence a few weeks ago. The case went to court and the court, for some unknown reason, postponed sentencing. That is hardly Balta's fault.

Would this question be asked if the court had done its job at the hearing and decided on a sentence? I doubt it. And, it isn't as if the court didn't already know he was going to plead guilty, everyone knew. There is no excuse for the court to have postponed sentencing, the court's inefficiency should have no impact on the AFL suspension.
