Noah Balta

Matt Cronin is a star. Done a power of positive work after Pat's death. Have seen it firsthand.

The closer we get to it, the more uncomfortable I am with Balta playing while the case is still going.

Wait till this is all over in April.

Yeah Pat Cronin has been a fantastic advocate in this space. Done his son proud.

As for those saying he was manipulated into saying things - listen to the interview.

Am moving to that mindset as well. The pub test says wait til it's over in April.

If Balta is stood down I consider he would have grounds to sue AFL & Punt Road for restraint of trade.

Yeah nah, the media was probably manipulating this poor guy into making these embarrassing quotes to make a story out of it.

"If we stop violence, that would be good for everyone" lol

The fact Balta went for a bump instead of a punch him from behind should not be ignored. That distinction is a matter of life or death.
Highly unlikely the media manipulated anyone. This is a grieving father who is living a nightmare. An apparently cowardly attack that led to the loss of a child.

Hard for the club and Noah but I hope he plays. There is going to be a great deal of publicity given to whether or not he is selected and how he responds. But a father's understandable torment about another case is now turning this into a discussion about punishment.
With respect, that is not his role.

The media meltdown over Balta playing this week yet crickets on a certain Geelong player.
Given anyone breaking the suppression order faces a maximum 5 years imprisonment or financial penalty, I'm not surprised there's crickets.

Kinda pointless order as there'd already be thousands of peeps out there who've already found out who the accused is.

Maybe Matt Cronin can get Balta to join in his quest to inform people

maybe a better outcome for both than just cutting Balta and kicking him to obscurity

Why is this even a debate?

He has served his punishment, if fit he plays.

Yes it was a horrible act and he has faced the courts for it. The AFL and Richmond have handed down a penalty too which he has served. Yes it had the potential to be much worse but so to did the following acts:

- David King (loud critic) belted a bloke in a Kebab Shop, no penalty from North or the AFL
- Dane Swan - assaulted a person - two game penalty
- Luke Hodge - Drink driving before a final - no penalty from Hawks or AFL

The way people are piling onto Balta it must be affecting his mental well-being. Wouldn’t surprise if he came out and said he’ll take some time away for personal reasons.

I have never had to plead guilty to a criminal charge of assault. So can't say I can relate to his position.

Pretty normal to dismiss someone for screwing up. In the mines we sack someone for failing a daily mandatory alcohol breath test.

Just expressing my opinion. While respecting others opinions.

Noah's not operating heavy machinery.

Don't forget the current coach of the Scumbaggers.

Add Toby Greene to that list. I’m sure he was charged with assault and also some sort of weapons charge as he attacked the bouncer with a crutch. Something like that. Can’t remember the actual charges. I’m sure there was CCTV of the incident as well

The pile on is reflective of the current state of society. OUTRAGE!!! OUTRAGE!!!! OUTRAGE!!!….

Noah has served his sanction (approved by both the AFL and the Club).

Personally (and I’ll probably get whacked by the do-gooders crowd), I will be ecstatic if Noah is selected to play this week.

Media in action.
They start a campaign to get Balta a further suspension from footy.
Then say Richmond is under pressure to suspend Balta for next 2 weeks.

Do U have any recent examples. Some that are more relevant in the no.

Was a very, very poor act by Balta, but he has done his time, those now jumping up and down saying 4 games was not enough should have aired there grievances when the 4 games was handed down, it's all just grandstanding now
Been reported that AFL and Rich FC did not see the CCTV vision prior to handing down the 4 week suspension. That is the issue - that all have now seen the vision which is shocking.

Most would have given Balta the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was provoked and that he wouldn't have punched a defenseless person who was on the ground. Hence why no grievances at the time of the 4 week sentence.

Reports r that had the AFL/Tigers seen the vision they would have handed down a greater sentence than 4 weeks.

So when are the media gonna start piling onto Gee cheat for their players indiscretions and off field misadventures of the past 18 months or so.
