Noah Balta

That is precisely the point.

His employer cannot sanction him for the act, they can only sanction him for something in the AFL rules (bringing the game into disrepute or some such thing) or in his contract. To do so would be double jeopardy which is when someone gets penalised twice for the same offence.

DS
Double jeopardy is a criminal-trial rule only. He's not on trial with the AFL, so they can do whatever they like within their own rules, whether the court system punishes Balta or not

Yeah Pat Cronin has been a fantastic advocate in this space. Done his son proud.

As for those saying he was manipulated into saying things - listen to the interview.

Am moving to that mindset as well. The pub test says wait til it's over in April.
Don't disagree but it's been adjourned once already. Whilst unlikely what if the case is delayed again?
The club & the AFL are already happy with the suspension. As said this has been well known since January despite the video showing relatively recently on mainstream channels.
It's a treacherous path react to media manipulation. Cronin is just that despite his strong message. They'll always go to the dial a quote.
Important to distinguish Noah's first contact was a shove, not a 'one' punch.
Anyway I'm happy either way.

I can see both sides, he did a very bad thing but now hope he is going to be ok as well in due course. Grog can equal big mistakes.

But the hyperbole - Caro’s opening line on one of those shows, don’t remember exact quote but she drew the families and kids aspect into it. ‘Noah Balta may make his return in Adelaide in front of families and kids at this event’. Etc etc
Steven Milne and Leigh Montagna who were accused of much worse than Noah played in front of families and kids while they were under suspicion and nothing ever happened.

You missed the point. It’s the lack of any sort of noise from the media that’s causing double standards.
They can't, There's a suppression order, they face jail or a fine if they do, simple as that, no double standard whatsoever.

Do they sack people for in their own time, outside of work hours, having a drink and being involved in a barny at the pub?

Just trying to compare apples to apples.
Me, From a defense background, anything that you do that ends up in the courts and you end up in an even bigger world of poo poo within defense than what the courts may hand down.

To ease pressure off Balta the club etc for his mental health
He should sit it out till after his court date
But that is kotowing to the minority. This is the fearless Richmond Tigers from Punt Road of years gone by. Do the Tigers have the mettle to stand by their man ,supporters or wimp it. Soon find out will we not !!.

Matt Cronin has softened his stance from “I hope he never comes back” to “I’m not saying he should never play again”.

Poor Noah's become the Hannibal Lecter of the world. Everyone's treating him like a hardened criminal.

To those that say he should never play again - Andy Krakour’s story was considered inspiring. He did jail time for a vicious assault and played again

The Judge is at fault due to delay/procrastinating over penalty.
In the meantime, especially in today's world, the keyboard warriors and soapboxers have a forum to spit out drivel as they await said penalty.
All of this could have and should have been avoided.
I hope the Judge has all tv and media off while deciding and not open to influence.

We may never see Noah again if all these biases/outside influences reach the Judge.
Shocking Legal System.

Yep. Gotta feeling it's gonna happen again. How many times was Marlion's postponed?
