Surprised at the knocks on Chol, I thought his attack on the man and ball was really good today.

I still don't understand what Chol offers. He's good below his knees for a big man. But not as good as a small.

He doesn't take contested marks. He gets dominated as a ruck.

He has neat skills, and some agility and speed, but those traits are only useful in big men if they're also able to play as big men.

Balta has all those traits, plus takes marks, plus gets clearances, plus gets the ball, plus competes in the ruck. He's also a better kick.

Chol has upside. But not value in the best 22.

Out: Chol, Ross
In: Balta, Cotchin.

I love Ross, and reckon he'll be a star. But we looked a little one paced when both he and Graham are in the centre. I couldn't find anyone else to drop.

If Grimes goes out, Garth in.

Edit: If Nank is fit, play him instead of Balta. If Grimes isn't fit, Balta comes in for him.

Folks need to cut Ross a little slack. Couple of howlers and was reasonably quiet, but this was his dreaded second week back after a long layoff. A foot no less, so his rehab might’ve been compromised.
I don't think anyone is being too hard on Ross. Only that someone has to make way for Cotch.

Agree. There is something about Chol which tells me we need to play him in finals. He's still just showing glimpses at the moment but I can see him ripping a game a new one in September

he could easily waltz in to 4 laconic goals in a prelim.

the Choldokervis Conundrum is very real and historical

Going by Dimmas presser i think Nank a no.

Maybe one change as Cotchin trained at top speed and Ross the unlucky one?

So 1 change for me.

I would definitely keep Ross in, one bad game after being out for injuries, no way he deserves to be dropped.

If Nank is fit we have a real selection dilemma. Soldo is looking to be the best tap ruck in the middle, Nank is Nank but not so strong in the ruck but I want him back. Chol shows something and is the weakest of the 3 but you sort of want to fit him in somehow. Then again, a few have commented in other threads that our small forwards aren't performing so well at the moment - how about 3 tall forwards with Chol going back if needed, he does know how to punch a ball in a marking contest.

So, hmm, difficult:
IN: Cotchin
OUT: Short

Why keep the player who seems to do the least? Soldo first ruck with Chol as relief ruck and round the ground presence, assuming Nank not ready. Maybe Graham at Half Forward given we have a lot of mids in Cotch, Dusty, Prestia, Sheds, Ross, and probably more I can't think of this second.

Ross won't be out and Towner won't be in.

In: Chimp
Out: Short

Thought Short's goal before quarter time was very important ( a ripper too left foot from outside 50)

The players that did the least were Chol and Ross. I'd keep Ross in though.

The three goals of theirs he was complicit in before quarter time were three times as important.

Their first goal, started from an intercept in our forward pocket, Punt Rd end, Southern side. I was watching as everyone ran to that side, Short trailing Ryan through the centre by 10 metres. West Coast switched, came back members' side. Ryan marked on the boundary, 10 metres in front of Short, passed to Sheed for a goal. Short simply could not keep up.

Rioli's dribble goal, Short was 20 metres behind him, unable to impact.

Petrucelle goal, Short on him, managed to get himself in the way of the two rucks and take himself out of the play.

Combine all that with his usual softness, panicking, and kicking the ball to the opposition.

But yeah, nice goal.

Sorry Spook , cant take any of your posting on Short seriously. You pointed out Petrucelle was Short's opponent - 2 kicks 4 handballs to go with that goal that he got because Chol let it go over the top without a contest.

Your other examples are just ludicrous.

First goal was due to a stuff up on the goal line. Soldo and Houli were in a position to impact but didn't. Sometimes *smile* happens. the Rioli goal was brilliant front and centre stuff at speed. i am not going to bag Flossy for not taking the intercept mark.

Houli had a good game but his opponent kicked three. Sometimes some perspective helps.

I've watched footy with people before who after every opposition goal, will go looking for their whipping boy to somehow fit the narrative that it was their fault. Even if they were 20 metres away on another opponent.

In fact, I've been that person before.

It does get boring to listen to after a while.

That's ok, lamby. I don't take any of your posts seriously.

Short was on Petrucelle for the boundary throw-in that Petrucelle goaled from. Not all game. That moment. He was on Ryan when Ryan went from 10 metres southern side of him to 10 metres members side of him in 30 seconds to mark and set up the goal He was on Rioli when Rioli hit the fall of the ball with Short 20 metres behind. He was his usual soft, panicky self.

I'm sorry, burger, I was asked to justify why I would drop him. He's my whipping boy because he's a passenger. Feel free to put me on ignore.
