Dan is a pretty good politician, especially compared to others currently in power atn state and fedaral levels, but he makes the odd decision that is pretty hard to understand
Yes, putting a "safe" injecting room next door to a Primary School in Richmond is an example

At least it's a safe injecting room. Much worse if it was called an injecting room.

actually they dont just supervise the junkies less fortunate folk, they even supply them their drugs

How good is that

Pleased that this get through. Why cause more harm to the victims family? Am I missing something with the Governments stance?
I still haven’t heard an explanation of why anyone in the government thought it was a good idea to have victim’s voices silenced

Isn't the law currently that victims can't speak out as they are not allowed to be identified?

I think they are trying to correct an imbalance but haven't thought it through enough.

Don't really know enough about this but that is something I seem to remember reading a few months ago.

If this is the case don't change it until you change it to the right balance and consult with everyone.

bump with the state election pending.

Roy Morgan poll is 59.5/40.5% TPP. Which is about a 2% swing in favour of Andrews from the 2018 election. It has been consistently around the 60/40 mark over the past 12-18 months.

I don’t know if people are surprised by this or not. The Dan critics are extremely vocal and the hate is strong, but they don’t seem to be large in numbers or have any real influence on the masses.

Is it also worth having a discussion over the legal fight between PR Guy and Avi Yemini? Or should we not give oxygen to a wife basher?

Is that still on after PRGuy outed himself and is not in anyway connected to the ALP?

it would seem the money Avi received for his legal fight from his Go Fund Me account has been used for a holiday in the snowfields.

Dan's signature Suburban Rail Loop is facing some hurdles. Ridiculous design proposals are facing substantial opposition from local councils and it appears with very good reason. There is a lack of connectivity with existing stations and transport infrastructure at Cheltenham, Glen Waverley and Box Hill. As an example the existing station at Glen Waverley won't be connected to the new station. The proposal is for commuters to exit above ground at the new station then walk across a road to the old station. The SRL authority also wants to shut a section of a local road to allow commuters to cross without interacting with cars. This will cause traffic chaos in an already extremely busy area and will have major negative impact on traders in the area.

FFS; ever heard of a *smile* tunnel?? I mean you're building one 50km long so what is another few hundred metres to connect the 2 stations underground?? What absolute amateur *smile*. I'm in favour of this project and others like them but if you're going to do it do it properly FFS. It's not like it is going to be rushed.......................

Bureaucracy is mind boggling.

It's not a relevant project for my lifetime Tim but I think it is required for future generations. The population of Melbourne is projected to double to around 10 million in 30 years. Transport infrastructure in the suburbs is only just adequate as it is. Traffic is insane enough as it is without another 5 million people. I think we need a better way to get people around the suburbs and this is probably it.

Melbourne is way behind the 8 ball with regards to public transport infrastructure. Our airport is a joke and the fact that you can't catch a train to it is an even bigger joke. Skybus FFS!! Even Blandbane has an airport rail link.

We can't keep moving everyone around by car, there just isn't enough space. More public transport, and trains are the best option because of capacity, is essential.

But I do agree, do it, do it properly.

Watching some of the media coverage around the intertwined NSW state election and NSW pokies lobby issues.

Can anyone tell me what is the actual raison d’être of the clubs in NSW? I don’t mean the original reason for being. That is obvious. They were RSL clubs, Rugby League Clubs, workers clubs, bowls clubs etc. But it’s like they have forgotten any actual practical reason for existence and now essentially exist to make money for the sake of building even larger suburban casinos to put even more pokies machines in, to make more money to build even bigger suburban casinos to fill with more pokies machines and the cycle goes on into perpetuity. They usually have a mutual ownership structure, owned by club members as far as I understand it. So it just doesn’t make sense.

Sure they give a few tax deductible scraps to fund community activities (community sport, charities) and buy some reputation. Offer a few cheap meals and cheap access to the club’s gym and pool to get people through the door to play the pokies. And the sport of rugby league in NSW probably wouldn’t exist without the pokies subsidisation. But this still doesn’t account for the immense revenue. Nowhere near it.

Kind of reminds me of an autoimmune disease. Your immune system has an obvious original purpose, but outgrows it’s original purpose and starts to attack your body. Kind of what the clubs do to society.

Rumour has it, it was Clubs NSW digging up dirt that leaked the photos of a youthful Premier Perrottet in Nazi fancy dress, because he dare suggest a policy aimed at curtailing problem gambling. The gambling lobby in Australia is our political system’s NRA.

In Tasmania we have a relatively powerful pokies lobby. But it consists of one or two wealthy families who own all of the licenses, profiteering from it. Obviously totally distasteful. But at least I can understand it. Simple example of fat cats filling their greedy pockets. But the mutuality of the clubs makes me scratch my head as to what the mission really is. Perhaps they don’t even know themselves. Or are there shady people who have muscled their way into the clubs movement siphoning off large chunks under the table?

I still don’t understand why they don’t come out and say this is corruption? I would call it corruption. Perhaps I expect more. If tenders aren’t issued it’s a complete breach of trust. Call it out ALP voters. We expect better.

Do you only want ALP voters to call it out, or can anybody call it out as Corruption?

IBAC didn't call it corrupt. Just a bit beige dodgy n smeared, politely suggested someone hand Dan a clean rag n bottle of windex so he can polish his turds a bit better.

Watching Dan Andrews press conference right now. He's the only politician in the country who I actually enjoy listening to.

I would expect most fair minded people to call it out as being unacceptable.

But until he gets feedback from voters that have voted him in. What pressure do we have as tax payers get any change to professional standards that his office are implementing?
