Sydney Stack

Stack had the best rookie season I've seen from a Tiger, including Martin and Richo. He has the talent to be anything.

He’s tough, nimble, a great decision maker, has dancing feet and can take a hanger.
He may have ordered a Kebab but he’s more like One with the Lot

He polled 4 lousy votes in the b&f from 9 games. Markov polled 12 from 6 and got delisted. Syd was off.
Well, Oleg requested a trade for more regular opportunity and selection in a lesser AFL side; he was not delisted. But it's probably a fair indicator of their respective 2020s.

needs another 6-7 weeks of hard work and needs to get his fitness to a good level
currently being played foward for good reason he is just not fit enough to play out a full game at VFL level

He stank last year.
And showed something special the year before that
That‘s 1-1 right now

Look it ain’t guaranteed - but he’s still got a lot to offer.
If he does make it (and I’m backing him to do this) he won’t be the first player to look back after 5 years and see that he nearly destroyed his career before it really began.

Stack is one of the few VFL players we have that can perform at senior level. Once we have to go to Naish then the cupboard is bare. Another injury and he‘ll play. He may even be sub this week

Agree 100%, last year was special circumstances and no reason he can't get back up to where he was in 2019.

But people saying he was OK last year are kidding themselves.

im kidding myself.

he had very similar numbers to Shane Edwards in his second season in '08.

But I suppose plenty were calling sheds a bust at that stage too. (needless to say, I wasn't one of them)

Games. D. M. T

sheds. 16. 11.6 2.9. 1.9. (08)

Stacky. 9. 10.2. 1.7. 2.9. (20)

I never called Stack a bust. Signs in the VFL this year are good apparently so let's hope he gets back to that amazing first season form.

This ain't word for word but a precis of what Balmey said on this weeks' Talking Tigers when asked about Syd:

He is not far away.
He still needs to make good decisions about how he trains and what he does and all that stuff but he is in a good place, it won't be long before he is seriously considered.
Selfishly he is really talented but has to put all the other stuff together as well which I am pretty sure he will do.
We've got make sure we keep him on the straight and narrow

So within that short summary by Balmey lies the conundrum that is Syd, extremely talented but many choices he needs to make to succeed.

No argument he was off, but my point is he was off from a stratospherically high base. Expectations were too high and the criticism was too harsh IMO. Shorty won the B&F and Dusty didn't.

Dylan Grimes has never polled a Brownlow vote.

There are some players you watch and immediately recognise that they are a born footballer.
I’m surprised by how much I miss him.
Luckly I still have Baker to marvel at.

No need to rush the selection in the top side. Thinking if we elevate him too early it maybe detrimental in the longer term.

Might pay more dividends if we wait 2 or 3 weeks more once he is fit enough. ie make him work harder for longer.

Yep give him 2-3 weeks of full midfield games before promotion.

Doesn't help that the vfl have a bye.
