So Toned Abs has been bangin' on about how his new team of Whips will keep him better informed.

Unfortunately Ol' Man Phil Ruddock has come out and said - "hold the phone Tone, I did tell you the backbenchers were hating on you".

Tony Abbott - the gift that keeps on giving.

considering it was well reported in the press it reflects very poorly on Abbott if he didnt know about it, regardless of Ruddock.

Sometimes I just take a step back and try and absorb the fact that Tony Abbott - the Mad Monk - is our Prime Minister.

It's depressing and acutely embarrassing in an international context.

The trend of voters punishing lacklustre, small target governments after one term doesn't look like abating any time soon.

Who on this board thinks Bill Shorten will be the dynamic leader we all so desperately need?

This struck me as well, the issues were so widely reported that he must have known.

ETA in fact if the report in the Hun is right several backbenchers did speak to Abbott directly about their concerns. So Abbott is outright lying.

Gillard was strong on policy but poor on politics.
Abbott is poor in both areas.

I'd be interested to know how people see Abbott as being better than Gillard.

Was that really Kev and Therese? What a contrast.

In a word...no. But I wonder if there is change coming? The last three Labor leaders have been non-NSW. The last two from Victoria. Given many think Victoria (well Melbourne) is the most left leaning state does that mean Labor is shifting back politically from its slide to the right over the last two decades?

Abbott government are thinking of scaling back the Census to a survey. Won't happen.

Yeah... someone with some intelligence will tell Tony or his replacement "Tones, we need to understand the demographics of Australia in order to have even a small chance of producing good policy for health, housing, roads, transport, education etc etc etc"

and hopefully Tony Abbott or his replacement will say "Yeah fair point, can't believe I didn't think of that earlier".

These blokes will seriously try to make policy in the absence of any evidence whatsoever if we let them. In fact, if they can make a good slogan out of it they'll then make the policy to fit the slogan.

Seems I was wrong....http://www.canberratimes.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/abs-is-behind-controversial-proposal-to-axe-the-2016-census-not-the-abbott-government-20150219-13j4az.html

Jaquie Lambie calls for the death penalty. http://www.pedestrian.tv/news/arts-and-culture/jacqui-lambie-calls-for-the-death-penalty-to-be-re/d59ae9dd-e295-47b3-999c-d508fd0ef84c.htm

Lambie is making Hanson look like a sane and rational right wing politician with sensible views and ideas.

to be fair, many australians are in favour of the death penalty... probably the majority. her timing is atrocious though.
