Perhaps that would make you feel better but what would it acheive? And if you want to extend this approach to terrorists, they are willing to die for their cause anyway, so no deterrence there either.

Your hard-line approach acheives nothing except to make you feel better about yourself. And those who disagree with your approach become "apologists" and "traitors".

I don't expect much support on internet forums which are predominantly patronised by lefties. But there are a lot of people without a voice who feel similarly. A lot.

By all means keep pretending there's no problem and when terror inevitably comes a knockin' you can produce a printout of this thread as evidence that you understand the "terrorists" are actually good guys no different from yourself. I'm sure your faith in extremism will pay off.

The problem isn't with Islam itself but with socialism.

Believing you're inevitably going to be impacted by terrorism is about as logical as believing you're inevitably going to get struck by lightning. Although the chances of getting stuck by lightning are greater.

Don't let fear of something that's simply not going to happen run your life.

So you're saying there's no chance? Try telling that to the families of those that got run over by a truck or had limbs blown off in an airport. Perhaps you can convince them they have nothing to worry about.

Anytime someone dies it's tragic. Just because the families of people who have been wounded or paralysed, or had limbs torn off in car collisions have suffered doesn't mean we should ban cars from being imported into the country.

It's not to belittle those who have suffered, but you really have to consider rational and proportional responses, and ultimately, what is worth worrying about. No one here will die in a terrorist attack.

Who says there's no problem? Who says terrorists are good guys? Who says terrorists are no different than ourselves?

Bizarre.

This is what has annoyed me greatly about Hanson's arguments.
She's harped on about 'terrorism' on our streets?
Really? There's been a couple of relatively minor incidents.
Much greater issues at hand in this country to get upset about but they might not get you elected. #fear

So we shouldn't worry about it because chances are it won't happen to us? OK if it happens to someone else but chances are we are safe. Kinda like not worrying about the war crimes and mass murders. Apathy is the cornerstone to our way of life.

Good piece on how Isis, among other things, has become the receptacle for just otherwise deranged lunatics.

Depends where. But understand their instincts are to attack when hungry and that we should work towards minimising attacks.

Mother and three daughters, aged between 8-14, stabbed in French holiday resort because they were 'scantily dressed'

"Uncovered meat..."

What does it take to make some of you see that Islam doesn't play nice with others? The very word means "submission".

Embattled Sonia Kruger has few friends in TV willing to publicly support her after Muslim comment

On-air faces across the industry have been instructed to keep quiet on the issue, it can be revealed, leaving the embattled Today Extra co-host to face the music alone.

Silence, Sonia. That subject is taboo!

What's your solution Lee?

Apart from saying Islam is bad and we are all apologists and traitors of course.

ive asked that a few times and got no response.

Yep. Poppa X also said the solution is obvious but when asked what it is he mysteriously disappeared.

Not sure this is the right thread but

I saw an excellent piece from Waleed Aly in response to Sonia Kruger calling for an end to this ridiculous cycle of everybody attacking everybody and causing rifts that just feeds into itself.

It's just become a daily game of "who's head do we lop off today"? I see it as a by-product of social media and everyone having a "voice" nowadays. And of course everyone has to be bigger, louder, more obnoxious than the one before.

It isn't rocket science. No more Muslim intake until the religion reforms itself. It's not up to us to reform it.

It was generic 21st century hippie waffle served up as a diversion from the issue. Lots of lefties love that stuff.

The issue can be discussed without stereotyping, without abuse, without slapping labels on everyone. Indeed, I'd find it nigh on impossible to describe "the average Muslim".

Nope, don't see it that way L2. I think he made complete sense and I aint no lefty!

If I can paraphrase him: take a breath, think before we speak, be calm and stop attacking everyone for a sport. Doesn't matter if you are "left" or "right".

What he's effectively saying, after 2-3 years of media conditioning (a change of tack after several years of alarmist headlines concerning Muslims), is that this contrary opinion should not be discussed (no matter how many share it). It's a waffly attempt at censorship, plain and simple.

Kruger's comment wasn't couched in hateful terms. She merely expressed a fear that the likelihood of terrorism increases with the % of Muslims in a population. Our population.

The opinion is being silenced out of a fear that it will incite Muslim extremism. It didn't work for Chamberlain and it won't work on this. The elephant eventually grows so big it devours you.
