The Blair "Which?" Project

It won't surprise me if Blair snares Cerra.
In the trade talk podcast Clarke seemed quite tight-lipped when asked about Cerra. Certainly wasn't saying no. Astbury was budgeted for but is going, Houli pushed, Jack on less and now they're trying to offload Caddy's salary... something may be cooking in Blair's kitchen.

I hope we don't. Peter Bell is almost as bad as Dodoro when it comes to trading.

For my point of view the only player i would trade this year is for tom Green ..... other wise i would be looking at how we secure 3 picks inside the top 20 in this year draft...then next year load up on getting Ben King to punt road.

The way I’m looking at our current situation is that there will be 100 gamers after the first round, always is . We have a reasonably talented young list that could improve rapidly with a little luck , though Imho we can contend again next season and I think we will, I’m thinking hit this draft , try and upgrade picks via trades for players like Caddy, however simply take as many picks as we can to the draft, I see the Vics not playing as a bit of a blessing in that we can take a chance on a kid who may have grown a bit or shown glimpses previously , again the recruiting team should back themselves in.

Im not fussed either way really however I’d like to see a “fit” Talia come to punt rd , costs nothing in draft picks and would help lock down on the big key forwards , also allows Balta to bolt . It also may allow Balta to be played forward going forward . Not sure on Narkle , however more then happy to see a player like him come in on the cheap , if he’s an elite clearance player , then welcome to Punt rd . Other then Prestia all our elite mids are going to be spending more time out of the middle then it , Dusty deep forward, Shedda flanks, Skip half back .

Bottom line I think we have to back the Cubs in and add elite talent , for me best avaliable first 2 picks and then speed and skills

Hawks for a few years, however in recent it’s been a disaster, Cats have contiNiall played finals by topping up , however if they don’t get it done this year it has to be seen as a failed plan. Not sure
in August 95 I had a look st Carlton’s best 22 and their ages and said that Carlton would win the flag but wouldn’t be back for a while

Spot on

Geelong is getting to the same stage

But what would be even better is them not winning the flag and crashing into the abyss.

I just can't see how the dig themselves out of this. Their age profile is completely out of whack, and when the old guys retire, they have a complete rebuild.........surely!

The train can't stop at the cliff. There is just far too many Golden Oldies that will fall and fall fast. And there is zero A grade talent on that list under 25.

Jack Henry is a building block, good prospect.
Parfitt is a solid rotation mid, nothing more.
Bradley is Close to being a solid C grader.
Esava Ratugolea should be a player but the next time he gets more then 10 touches we can have the chat.
Jordan Clark is a week away from a video with the Geelong Addy asking for a rescue team.
Quintin Narkle has already released a video.
Mak Holmes shows plenty but is raw. Nickname must by Johnny.
Zach Guthrie is the third best footballer in the Guthrie family but there's only two brothers, thats a problem.
One bloke is names after a crim from Carlton and another lists "Basketball" as his former club.

Makes Swiss cheese look solid.

Looking at our list we absolutely don’t need to sell the farm for mature talent.

Go the draft AND contend. We can do both, which is scary for 17 other clubs.

We just needed a proper pre-season to recharge / regroup.

A couple of free agents and/or cheap trades is also needed. You can’t just rely on the draft.
