The SC/DRAFT 2008 - discussion thread.

I'm not a player of Ultimate Footy, so i can't fairly draw comparisons. This Draft League is difficult in one sense, and easier in another.

Difficult:
You have fewer trade options, other than midfielders. Playing Fwds and Rucks to trade up to are non-existant it seems. Defenders are slim pickings too.

So unless you draft well - it's a stuggle.

To improve your team is a struggle.

You really have to be on the ball to select a player early before anyone else.

Easier:
It takes less time to manage your team with fewer decisions to make.

Having said all that, it replicates a real club more accurately. No clubs suddenly get to decide to trade a player for another. It's as much a drafting comp as a game comp.

I do think Supercoach/Dreamteam could have been more helpful with more players being "multi-positional". ie Midfielder / Defender or Midfielder / Forward. That make the 16 team comp much more viable with more players available.

One way it could be free up for next time (but add to the management), is allow one player to be with two coaches maximum. That could free up 20-50 players at the bottom end of the pool.

Just my thought so far - welcome others - Thanks KiwiTigi!

I'm a fan of our draft comp. Having done this one we will draft differently next time around.

Don't worry about not being in ultimate P the scoring system sucks big time.

This is an experiment year.

And I am finding it frustrating a tad that the depth just isn't there for us to have decent reserves.

I tend to like Pharaces Idea of - 2 coaches per player. We need to think on how that wiould work, but its a very good idea to look into.

I know its skill on drafting and all that, however I just think its not really how good we are to the extent it should be.

Injuries play to much in it. And thats out of our hands.

I would much rather a 16 team comp, in which we all pick our players, but I would just like to see 22 players vs 22 players each week.

Not 22 player vs 15 players.

due to that reason I like the thinking of upping the playing pool, and Pharaces idea still makes drafting very important.

interested on everyone elses thoughts.

Fremantle, Geelong, Collingwood and Essendon have released their starting 22 for this round.

I already have two outs and one in.

Not going to be a good round ...

The mids are ok, it's just the forwards and defenders that are the issue.

I think less teams next year would be the best solution.

One in - 4 forwards playing now! :help

A win!! Can't believe it.

Although my draft team with 4 players down almost beat my "real" team!!!

Shows the luck factor I guess....

Can relate to that Kiwi - in DT only got 1253pts this week, two down, yet the week before 1850pts. It goes around and around and around and around..........like Richmond back looking to give off really?

Congrats Tanners, sounding like a real coach already - only thing missing is how you "stick fat with the boys and things turn around once they are cherry ripe" ;D.
