I'm sure they are all good coaches but there needs to be ying and yang with Dimma or he gets over comfortable with what he knows. Caracella Rutten and Leppa all seem to be coaches who could come up with and argue for their particular perspective. I'm thinking X knows his stuff but perhaps is deferential to established process (with some justification). Need a good a lateral thinker (preferably a previously intelligent and skillful player IMO)

yeah but thats not luck.

luck is when either something really good happens completely randomly, independent of other variables like hard work, or opportunity,

or something really bad doesnt randomly happen,

like some adhd bloke sliding into you and rupturing your kidney, for example.

the 'harder i work, the luckier i get' fridge magnet,

is middle-class social darwinism.
Come on man! It's like the fat guy sitting on the train wondering why the girl didn't ask him to walk her to her car. That stuff only happens to other guys he thinks while chomping on a doughnut spilling crumbs all over his dirty jumper. The other guy works out. Takes an interest in what he wears and was reading a book about pleasuring women. Is it luck or was it the hard work the other guy put in? You can't win tatts without buying a ticket my friend. Injuries will happen but also exposes opportunities. Doing the work to have the depth and foresight to prepare for injuries is the heard work that exposes a new gem or innovative new game plan.

I hear where you are coming from but I too can go through every team and pick out their above-average players, as you just did with our team.
But our top end on every line was absolute elite. Then add on Caracellas game plan and the connection instilled by dimma to the players and you have a champion team.
Yes, we are a system based team but do you really think our team would be winning flags based more so on role players? It's the elite talent that gets you over the line. Dusty, Houli, Rance, Riewoldt, Lynch, Cotchin, Grimes, Vlustuin, Edwards, Prestia, etc
Absolutely, and without our core players firing those role players become very much exposed, there’s 4-5 in that bracket

like i said; deficiency theory, victim blaming, middle class social darwinism , dressing inequity up as luck, when it isnt.

it would be luck, if there was the big fellas idea of a perfect woman on the train and she had a donut crumb and stained windcheater fetish, and she could pick cynical smarmy predator spivs a mile off, and she was ovulating.

Trust me, i know alot about luck. Im a bit lazy and pretty unambitious, and amazingly good things happen to me most days

I hear what you're saying but I could say then that all the hard work in eating those extra dim sims and chiko rolls paid off! Coincidences for example pop up but if you aren't prepared to take advantage, you miss them. The hard work prepares us and ultimately determines how much benefit we can derive if any. Anyway I can't really remember the point I was trying to make.

I kept it pretty quiet at the time, but after that day I was convinced Dimma was an outstanding coach.

It was a *smile* game against GC @ the G, Dimma pulled the reins in the last 10 minutes & his 3 moves paid straight off.

  1. Left Dusty on the ground when he was due to come off.
  2. Pushed Hammer forward & he either kicked a goal or set Dusty up for a goal, maybe both, cat recall now
  3. Released Conca from his tagging job on Gablett

He also had a blue with Brendan Lade, as Lade wouldn't take Reece of Gablett, he said & I quote

"*smile* hell Ladey, I've told you 3 *smile* times, let Reece play"

best ever footy experience

Edit:

The whole experience was great, started off on the Thursday when I was introduced to the whole playing/coaching group in the GR Room, my name up on the screen etc.
Poor old Broady, saw me (I was his only sponsor in 2016) and he assumed I was there as they were going to announce his debut :)
Then sat with them for the oppo analysis meeting.
Wilbur Williams then took me up into the JD stand on 3 or 4 occasions & was explaining the game plan & reiterating what was spoken about at oppo meeting.
Game day, was escorted around by Jacka Smith & or Dan Richardson, couldn't go onto ground after the 2nd pre game siren, so was downstairs in warm up room with Broady as he was emergency and also not allowed on ground after that siren.

Only day at footy I havent had a beer :)

I loved every moment
amazingly only 11 of the 2017 premiership team played that day

He is the only one left.
Clarkson won't talk to them because Clarkson feels like they backed doored him chasing Mitchell.
Mitchell is at hawthorn.
Brad Scott is Gilligan's new ball slapper.
Voss and Pkye that's the bottom of the barrel when it comes to coaches.
Knights, Carcella or even leppa would've been good choices.
But its Collingwood they will turn and turn quickly against whoever is appointed who dosent make them a good side.

Matthew Knights anyone?
He has been almost the forgotten man since leaving Essendon. Hasnt bothered going for any senior jobs from I can recall. But he has coached the Geelong VFL side and has been their midfield coach since 2015. He has the credentials.

The one I want out of Geelong is Grigg.
