Lambert is not a bad comparison. Like Lambert, I don't see English as purely outside. He can play inside or outside, as was evident against the all conquering SA team in the champs where he collected 6 clearances. I can only assume he was given a different role in that game to the final 2 games where he didn't record a clearance.

He was running at about 35% contested but like you said could vary on the role, certainly a few positive things to come out of the championship, one being his work rate.

35% contested of 28 disposals per game still gives him roughly the same raw numbers of contested possessions as RCD.

Sidebottom is the role model for English. Perpetual motion machine is the only way to combat slowness if you're not an inside beast.

Sounds good Ghost, if we're confident we can lift RCD's endurance then the same should apply with Ross.

No know nothing of RCD, but with his massive growth spurt, getting the work in to build his endurance would have been difficult. You can build endurance, you can only slightly improve speed. RCD has the speed.

Ross did all his work not junior fit, let alone AFL level fit, just imagine his upside,, his level of improvement will be huge along with his bull attitude and good pace, reckon he's a beauty,, the kids going to play vfl/afl the fittest he's being ever by a very long way, expect big improvements.

RCD 64% contested which is elite, the raw numbers should only grow.

Not sure English is polished enough by foot to be compared with Sidey, that part of his game is why he fell to the 4th round. Still think that Kane Lambert is the ceiling but that's nothing to moan about.

That he does, piling on 8kg would have been a strange experience, everything has to be adjusted, including running style. When I think back to Dusty's early career, he really struggled to run out games, first half specialist & then hit a brick wall. The good thing is we addressed that as a club & extracted every last drop of juice in getting him switched on for 100 minutes. This is another reason I'm really confident we're on a winner.

Great video on the GWS twitter feed outlining their draft strategy.

Highly recommend it.

I reckon he's a good get, and look forward to him dominating Stocker over the coming years.

Yep, confirms why Miles stopped getting games...

When did this occur? Don't they interview at the end of the season as it says he went back and worked on his running. Disappointing if Carlton benefits from it.

Regarding Jack Ross, does anyone know how many kids played vic metro u16 but not u18? Interested to know the progression. I know from experience a heap changes at this age and that rep selection can be political, inept and /or unfathomable, but it would be rare that the capt of the 16s wouldnt get a gig in the 18s

Apparently didn't have a preseason due to injuries.

I wouldn't trade you our Jacks for your St Kilda Queens!

And I'm certainly getting Jack of all this talk about Bytel.

Ah, check.

Anyhow, for the trivia buffs, when Richmond plays St Kilda & all these Jacks go head to head, will this be some sort of record for players having the same name?

St Kilda also have Jack Sh!t. That's their chances of winning the flag in the next 5 years :D

Probably right, bottom 2 this year I reckon.

But back to the question, not unfathomable to have all 11 Jacks in a 2 team squad of 44, 25% of players with the same name. Surely a record?
