I don't have the Bombers - Tigers semi final video from 95. If anyone has and can supply the commentary at the time Turner dropped O'Donnell, would be appreciated. Not condoning onfield KO's but man I loved that moment. IMO Turner was the quintessential backman and probably the last Tiger hardman (maybe Cogs, Hartigan, King but that's another thread).

Would like to add the commentary to my profile.

Cheers

GOD i would love a copy of that game! was at the match but was only 5 at the time, where would be the best place to get one?

but vagely remember my favourite player ever, matthew knights single handedly dragging the rest of the team towards victory with his run and goals.
another great game was the draw earlier in the season against essendon, still makes me nervous even when i know the result!!!!!

Looks like AFL Name a Game should have it Knighta. It was the Second Semi.

Geez when I turned 5 it was a few months after the '72 Carlton Richmond GF.
Feeling old now think I'll go have a lie down....

You young whipper snapper you. :laughsanta

If I could work out how too use my copy from video to DVD machine I'd send you a copy knighta. It's well worth buying from Name a Game though. I never tire of watching it each off season...in fact I should probably buy it on DVD myself.

If nobody else comes good with the commentary in the meantime rexy I'll find it for you when I get return from holidays.

I have it on VHS and have watched it heaps...

Love the bit when the Duck kicks a goal (I think to put us in front) and Robbo on commentary saying "have a listen to this"....

That game gives me goosebumps when I watch it. Have it on DVD.

Yep the Turner KO was ruthless but I'm watching Matty Knights at his brilliant best.

I'd imagine Turner would have copped quite a suspension for that hit these days.

I've got the game on DVD, and I'm processing it into two AVI files... First/Second halves.

I'll be uploading it shortly, so if you're interested, let me know and i'll send a pm with the download links.

Cheers

Definately would appreciate a pm Dave when you've done it. The kids have blown away my download limit and I'm currently experiencing dialup speed :mad: but were only a few days away from a refresh.
When I get it I'm gonna sit the kids down for a couple of hours and watch the game. This way they can get a better understanding as to why Dad goes on about Scotty Turner so much.

I've definitely got the game on DVD. Bought it about 3 years ago.

Its nothing flash, and the quality is average (1995 PAL TV quality), but its good enough.

I would watch that game in black and white and still get fired up.

Easily the best game I ever attended, and I spent most of the game gobsmaked as a 13 year old about how much support this club actually had, and the noise, it was and still is the loudest game I have ever been to. Shivers down my spine.

It was that game that turned me into an absolutely mad fanatic of this club.

Thanks thejinx for your efforts.

After watching it you do realise how much Knighta stood out in that first half. He could have had 5 identical running/bouncing goals for the game if he'd kicked straight on the last two. Freakish effort really.

I love the second half of that third quarter. The crowd firing up after Daffy scored from that free kick (bronx cheers for the umps) to get within 4 goals.

That's when Turner starting impacting majorly starting with a great goal from the throw in;
Robbo: "Ruck contest in the pocket, taken out of the air by Charles is it? No it's Turner! Richmond get the two goals that they were badly seeking"

Then the big bump on O'Donnell. I now realise that there was no commentary for the bump - it happened off camera as Daffy was driving the ball off the half back line. You could hear a big ooooh from the crowd at the time though. The first mention of it was leading up to the Naish goal shortly after;

MacAvaney: "O'Donnells down behind play, here's Campbell through the centre, little one to centre half forward, they weren't looking the Tigers! - he gave it up, hip & shoulder's ok, it goes forward, Naish is a great finisher, he surely will kick the goal, he has! they're back! they're back in business!"

Then Scotty's perfect handball to Daffy running through half forward;

Robbo: "Turner back to Daffy, if they get one here - have a listen to this, have a listen to this!"

Scotty was involved in the next goal when he spoiled the ball down to Daffy who then was held for a free kick;

Robbo: " He kicks it inside 50, marking contest, Naish, snapshot by Naish is coming around, it's a goal!

The crowd noise for the Daffy & Naish goals was goosebump material.

Other things I'd forgotton were how quiet Benny Gale & Justin Charles were, how reliable a defender Tape was, Rogers' impact (tarnished a bit with errors).
