Tyler Sonsie

He should be spending half his time with an athletics coach and the other half with Emma Murray our mindfulness coach

If he could put some body on his opponent in the centre square he might get a chance but he doesn't seem to have it in him. I do like the morris video where hes doing 1 v 1s with mansell this tells me they know its his weakness and he is working on it
Because he still plays with the physicality and intensity of a junior.
Lalor looks like he would split him

If Sonsie was watching the draft then he knows he has real competition for a spot in AFL so will need to get his finger out if he wants to succeed
Don’t reckon he cares enough…seems like a good kid but no sense of real drive

There would be a few nervous guys on the list right now. Anyone who coasts through pre season training will be taking a huge risk.

I find comments like this intriguing and there are many in this thread and Dows' sadly. The new boys have not played a single game of AFL - who knows what they will develop into and when, they could all be busts. Meaning how can you even make a comparison if they have zero AFL games under their belt. Both Dow and Sonsie have at least AFL experience and know what it entails and we can only hope they both can go to another level next season.

It is a tough gig to play consistent AFL football. Dow and Sonsie know this - all they can do is give it their best and I have no doubt they have been to where their development is. They would be seeing this as an opportunity to step up, given all the senior players who have now dropped off. I bet also they are seeing it is an opportunity to lead the way for the new boys. I don't buy they suddenly see themselves on notice or have competition or have to pull their finger out. They would be relishing the opportunity to integrate and team with the new recruits and to take on a more senior role.

Generous and measured.

That said, I’d be surprised if those within the club said Sonz was doing absolutely everything he can to be a serious AFL footballer.

I think you're being very generous to Sonz here - Dow ok, at times played some good footy and had a real crack. Sonz not so much. Nowhere near physical enough - needs to be absolute elite outside and far more damaging to play the way he plays. I disagree with you because I think he will be thinking survival foremost. Mansell seems to be the best example of what you are saying here, if you have seen the Fitness man's interview

Now the pressure has arrived on the talls with the haul of KPP being taken.

Ryan is now a ruck only with 4 no five key forwards on the list (Fawcett, Gray ,Faull ,Armstrong ,and Sims) and 2 young key defenders in. Trainor and Blight along with Gibbus.

Good point about Ryan - the No 1 ruck spot is his for the taking if …… he’s up to it
Certainly it should be his sole focus from here on

I think with the list refresh it will add organic rebalancing and naturally induce some urgency and pressure on the guys whove been around as the developing ones on the list for a while. This is the sign that they are required to reach the next level, and now.
I think its great personally as it will either be exactly what they need to put the boots on step up, or the death knock that was always coming if they dont have that next gear in them.
I think we will finally see which ones are our genuine players and which ones arent going forward this year wholly because of this list update.
